Gino D’Acampo SACKED by ITV who’ll ‘never work with him again’ as shows pulled over ‘sexually inappropriate behaviour’

The broadcaster will not run Gino's shows again

ITV has cut all ties with Gino D'Acampo and "has no plans to work with him" again following allegations of sexually inappropriate comments.

The broadcaster has dropped two episodes of Gino's Italy: Secrets of the South this weekend and it will not be airing Family Fortunes going forward.

Gino's Italy: Secrets of the South was originally meant to air between 6pm and 7pm on Sunday on ITVBe, but has been replaced by Abbey Clancy: Celebrity Homes.

Family Fortunes, which D'Acampo hosts, has also been axed.

ITV News reports episodes of the game show that were filmed in 2023 will not be broadcast - and there is nothing else in the pipeline for him.

"Most recently Gino D'Acampo has been the host of one of ITV's longest-running gameshows Family Fortunes," ITV News states.

"But ITV News understands the series, filmed in 2023, is not currently scheduled for broadcast and ITV has no plans to work with D'Acampo."

Dozens of allegations have been made against the TV chef, spanning over 14 years - and ITV News has seen evidence at least one production company was aware of concerns made by crew.

D'Acampo, 48, says he "firmly denied" all allegations made against him.

And Gino's travel show with Fred Sirieix won't get another ITV series after the investigation into his "sexually inappropriate" behaviour.

ITV has decided to axe the series, Emission Impossible, after just two episodes.

It followed Gino, 48, and Fred, 53, on an epic eco-friendly adventure across Austria and Croatia as they discovered the true cost of going green.

But now a source has told The Sun: "Even though viewers loved Gino and Fred's chemistry, their Emission Impossible shows were only ever meant as a two part special."

They added: "There has never been a conversation about turning it into a full series or even another special."

When the show aired in December, viewers were left switching off after Gino bared his bum while getting an intimate tattoo.

The TV chef crouched on all fours and lifted his underwear during an episode packed with lewd banter.

Gino claims

  • One woman claimed Gino told her he would "like to turn me over and f*** me up the a*** against the kitchen counter" in 2011.
  • Another woman alleged he opened the door only wearing his boxer shorts and said "Oh, don't worry, it's only small" which pointing towards his penis.
  • In 2018 while on set for the filming of Gordon, Gino and Fred’s Road Trip, Gino allegedly said he "felt like f******" one morning.
  • The same year Gino is alleged to have made a comment about another young female colleague who claimed he said: "Shouldn’t we be talking about her t***, they’re perfect, they’re like a mouthful."
  • Another alleged he told a young staff member: "When are we all going to get drunk and have sex together."
  • A woman told ITV she saw Gino appearing to threaten a young colleague over an ice cream in 2019, he allegedly said "if you don’t get me a Cornetto I will f*** your girlfriend".
  • In 2022 an internal investigation into Gino was launched at production company Betty TV in relation to alleged inappropriate behaviour and language on the set of Gino’s Italy – Like Mamma Used to Make.
  • The production company Objective Media Group said in an email seen by ITV in 2024 that issues also arose in 2023 on the Emission Impossible set.

Gino asked for a tattoo of a beaver on his bum, saying it would give him free travel around Austria if he showed it to conductors on the trains.

After a quick search on Google, Fred clarified: “That was valid last year, it was for last year.

“Not only that, it was for a specific festival, in 2023.”

Gino showed the camera his tattoo and said: “My wife is going to kill me. This is b*****ks.”

Fred replied: “But what are you doing there, with your bum in the air?”

Viewers shared their second-hand embarrassment on social media.

However, it wasn’t just the tattoo and Gino stripping off that got people talking.

After sleeping naked in a cabin with Fred, and going “beaver watching" in the mountains, viewers said they'd had enough.

In one awkward moment, Gino told Fred: “Beaver? Did you say beaver? I’m a huge beaver fan.

“So we need to sit down and wait for the beaver to come to us? This is different.”

In another scene, a barman explained that he served blonde beer, which prompted the enthusiastic reply from Gino: “I like blondes!”

And when Fred made a passing comment to “touch wood” for good luck, Gino said “You want to touch wood? Here you go,” reaching for his crotch.

Gino started working as a chef when he was 19 years old before moving into telly with appearances on UKTV Food.

He later landed a slot on ITV's flagship daytime show This Morning, before becoming a regular on its cooking segments.

Gino proved popular with both the programme's viewers and its then-hosts, Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield.

In 2011, he shocked viewers by wearing only an apron on This Morning.

Gino had promised Holly, Phil and viewers he would cook in the nude if the show won a National Television Award.

Making Holly blush, he followed through on his pledge when they scooped a gong before holding up a 'willy warmer' to the camera.

Family Fortunes, meanwhile, ran from 1980 until 2002, with Les Dennis at the helm during its most successful years.

ITV execs revived the format in 2006 with a celebrity edition and Vernon Kay on hosting duties.

That was cancelled in 2015, but the channel offered it a second chance in 2021 by reintroducing the civilian run with Gino.

A statement to ITV News from Gino D'Acampo's legal team, said: “This allegation from almost 15 years ago has never, until now via a media request for comment, been raised or put to Mr D’Acampo.

"He does not recall it, nor accept that this happened. Mr D’Acampo is horrified to be accused of “power play” and an “aggressive act”.

"He emphatically and unequivocally denies these allegations."
