Love Island’s Nathan Massey declares he still loves Cara De La Hoyde despite the pair splitting after a series of rows
NATHAN Massey has spoken of his love for Cara De La Hoyde just days after the Love Island pair split.
The reality star, 25, shared a picture of himself looking glum as he spoke on his phone and accompanied it with a heartfelt message.
He wrote: "The worst feeling in the world is when you know that you both love each other, but still you can't be together ! Me and Cara have split, we've had the summer of our lives together, but sadly come to a end, I wish her the best for the future 💔"
Fans shared his heartache, with many posting sad face emojis while others said they were gutted.
Earlier this month a source told The Sun Online that the pair were on good terms despite ending things after a series of arguments.
They said: “They’ve both mutually agreed to call it quits.
“It hasn’t been an easy decision but in the end they decided things would be better apart.
“They stayed really amicable and will definitely do all they can to be friendly.”
Cara and Nathan won Love Island in July last year and bagged a £50,000 prize in doing so.
At the time a source said: “Nathan and Cara have always had a fiery relationship with plenty of ups and downs.
“But their latest bust-up is their biggest yet and it’ll be tough for them to come back from this.”
After winning Love Island last summer the pair landed a series of lucrative magazine deals and were hoping to increase their profile further by securing their own reality show after impressing on Towie.
However, towards the end of last year Nathan indicated their relationship was not straight-forward given they've only known each other for a relatively small amount of time.
On living together in Essex, he said: “There have been arguments. I’m not the easiest person to live with.
“But you forget we’ve only known each other for six months.”
