It came as Madonna's daughter Lourdes was snapped yesterday flashing her own unshaven armpits.

Confirming that she had not groomed her legs or armpits in that period of time, Kate raised her arms to reveal the growth in her armpits.

Host Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford asked why she had decided to make the decision and Kate explained: "I haven’t shaved my armpits for about 5 years now. I think you should do whatever makes you happy.

"I don't want women to feel like there's something wrong with their natural body."

Eamonn Holmes admitted he wasn't fond of too much hair on men or women and pulled a face as he spoke about the current "hipster" beard trend.

Kate was invited on the show alongside WAG Lizzie Cundy who argued that women choosing not to shave their body hair was an unhygienic choice which could affect them in various aspect of their lives.

"I think you should do what you want to do but I think it is a grooming issue and it is lazy."

Lizzie admitted she often carries two razors with her wherever she goes just in case she need to do a bit of last-minute grooming before attending an event.

Viewers gave mixed reaction to the debate on Twitter as one wrote: "ew noooo, shave your armpits. it's just basic hygiene! #ThisMorning @thismorning."

One viewer admitted: "I shave coz I dont want to be judged but Why should women be treated different? it's ok for men, so why isn't it ok for women? #ThisMorning"

Others argued: "#ThisMorning personally I don't like any body hair but if a woman wants hairy pits that's her choice ,I don't find hairy armpits offensive
