LOVE Island loser Jack Fincham being sent to prison was clearly the correct decision.
Unfortunately it’s the one lone right in a baffling series of wrongs when it comes to this ticking timebomb of situation.
Fincham’s Cane Corso dog Elvis has attacked two innocent people. It’s obvious that his owner cannot control him, but the dog hasn’t been euthanised, or even rehomed with someone more capable of ensuring he behaves.
Instead, Jack and his dog are still together, as though nothing ever happened.
This is an insane move destined to end only one way - in tragedy.
We’ve all seen blokes like Fincham - who has been released on bail while he appeals the sentence - strutting down the street, terrorising communities with their supposed status symbol dogs.

Playing the big man, overcompensating for everyone knows what, in a way that’s less expensive than a red sports car but just as much of a pathetic cliché.
XL Bully dogs were banned in England and Wales in late 2023 after the breed had been found to have been “disproportionately involved" in deaths recorded since 2021.
Sometimes the dogs killed their owners, like David Daintree, in August last year and Angeline Mahal, in May.
Or they went for strangers, like Nicholas Glass, 33, who died after being attacked by four dogs, two of which were XL Bullies.

Most heartbreakingly of all, children including 10-year-olds Savannah Bentham and Jack Lis, and 17-month-old baby Bella-Rae Birch had their young lives ended by these dogs.
But a disastrous side effect of this ban is that it’s led to new breeds replacing XL Bullies – and these unknown quantities are currently unregulated.
Devil dogs
Slowly but surely, we’re hearing of attacks involving Cane Corsos.
Last October a Sheffield man suffered deep cuts and puncture wounds across his body after being mauled by two, with a 14-year-old girl who intervened also left injured.
A woman in South Yorkshire needed plastic surgery because her Cane Corso bit her so badly.
Easy to laugh at his arrogant stupidity, but Jack’s not just dumb, he's dangerous
Jack Fincham’s dog, his “best pal”, attacked a runner in 2022.
The victim was at first willing to accept an apology and a caution.
Fincham had to take a dog ownership course and agree to stipulations including ensuring Elvis would wear a muzzle in public.
Magistrates knew he hadn't kept to this because Fincham posted photos on social media showing the dog in a pub muzzle free.
Arrogant stupidity
It is easy to laugh at his arrogant stupidity, but Jack’s not just dumb, he's dangerous.
As he was led away from court, his on-off girlfriend, TOWIE’s Chloe Brockett, broke down in tears.
Hard not to find them hollow when compared to the pain and devastation her irresponsible boyfriend looks likely to cause in the future, by insisting on keeping this unsafe animal.

Six weeks in a cell, with nothing to do but think, might have done him a favour, made him realise he still has time to do the right thing before it’s too late.
If he doesn't, the awful truth is that it seems certain Jack Fincham will end up with blood on his hands.
