Who are Pippa Middleton and James Matthews?

Philippa Middleton, known to most as Pippa, is the middle child of the three Middleton children – Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, and James William Middleton, an entrepreneur whose company sells cake-making kits for birthdays.

The 35-year-old socialite graduated from the University of Edinburgh with a degree in English literature, something she later put to use by releasing her own non-fiction book, Celebrate, in 2012.

However, she is most known for almost stealing the spotlight on her sister's wedding day to Prince William by wearing a figure-hugging bridesmaids dress that turned her bum into a national talking point.

Her new husband is James Spencer Matthews, who was born in August 1975 to parents David, who owns the luxury Eden Rock resort in St Barts in the Caribbean, and artist mother Jane.

James is the heir to the Scottish title of Laird of Glen Affric and his childhood was split between St Barts and Caunton Manor in Lincolnshire.

His younger brother is reality TV star Spencer Matthews, who made his name on E4 show Made in Chelsea.

The pair met in 2006 on the Caribbean island of St Barts and had an on-off relationship before they became a steady couple in 2014.

When was Pippa Middleton and James Matthews' wedding and where was it held?

The loved-up couple tied the knot on May 20, 2017 after a ten-month engagement.

The pair shunned a lavish ceremony in favour of a more intimate, family affair in Pippa's home village.

She wore a spectacular dress by designer Giles Deacon, that featured cap sleeves and an elegant high neckline and is said to have cost upward of £40,000.

The couple wed at St Mark's Church in Englefield in Berkshire and resident priest the Reverand Nick Wynee-Jones officiated.

The church dates back to the 12th century and was extensively restored by Sir George Gilbert Scott in 1857.

The £6 million Middleton family home in nearby Bucklebury hosted the wedding reception.

A £100,000 glass marquee was built at the family home and it had space for more than 350 guests.

The guests also enjoyed a fly-by from aircraft including a World War Two Spitfire.

What was Pippa Middleton's dress like?

Designer Giles Deacon designed the lace gown Pippa wore to marry James Matthews. He was spotted visiting Pippa and her mother Carole just before Christmas, holding a garment bag.

However at the time, Giles, 47, said: “I can never really comment on rumours. Until things are confirmed, it’s rumours.”

Commenting on Pippa’s likely style choice, one source said: “No puffballs, but she adores lace and long sleeves.

“There won’t be too much embellishment. It will show off her amazing figure.”

The Duke of Cambridge was also be there and Prince Harry, along with his girlfriend Meghan Markle who arrived for the reception.

Kensington Palace confirmed that Pippa’s niece and nephew Prince George and Princess Charlotte would have starring roles in the nuptials and they  looked adorable in their very traditional outfits.

George, four, was a pageboy while two-year-old Charlotte was one of her auntie’s bridesmaids.

Pippa's parents Carole and Michael were in the front row of the church and her brother James attended with his on-off girlfriend and former Byker Grove star Donna Air.

All of James’s family are attended with his former reality TV star brother Spencer on best man duties.

However, Spencer’s other half Vogue Williams agreed not to come after Pippa was concerned about a reality TV celeb attending alongside Prince William and his wife Kate.

Does Pippa Middleton have an engagement ring?

Pippa and James officially announced their relationship less than a year after rekindling their romance.

On a break to the Lake District last July, James got down on one knee and asked his wife-to-be if she would marry him - taking her completely by surprise.

The millionaire hedge fund manager proposed to Pippa with a hefty octagonal diamond ring, which comes with a central four carat Asscher-cut diamond stone.

With an estimated cost of £200,000, the pricey ring also boasts a halo flawless diamonds around the centre, although it’s unclear who exactly designed it.

She was wearing the show-stopping ring on her wedding day.

But one thing is for sure, it has a price tag to match the Duchess of Cambridge's stunning sapphire engagement ring.

Prince William proposed with the same ring his father Prince Charles gave to his late mother, Diana, Princess of Wales.
