Gogglebox bosses ‘ban show’s stars from meeting outside of work and attending showbiz parties amid fears they’ll follow Scarlett Moffatt’s lead’

Producers are keen not to lose any more cast members to big bucks reality TV deals

CHANNEL 4 bosses have banned the Gogglebox cast from contacting each other and attending showbiz parties.

Producers are worried other cast members will follow Scarlett Moffatt’s lead by taking big money TV work, leaving the hit show without any recognisable faces.

The Daily Star claims that the cast will be given new contracts which will include a clause banning them from taking on any other media work whilst participating in the show.

Gogglebox shows families and groups of friends reacting to popular TV moments.

As well as picking up a number of telly awards, Gogglebox has gone on to launch the careers of Steph and Dom Parker, George Gilbey and Scarlett Moffatt.

The Sun revealed last year that the Gogglebox cast were given a monthly allowance of £1,500 per family and free takeaways per filming session.

With new rules in place banning other work, the cast could now be looking to negotiate a higher fee - and more snacks.

It’s also understood that Channel 4 are insisting that cast members including fan favourites Sandra and Sandi, Stephen and Christopher and Leon and June don’t arrange meet-ups.

George Gilbey  and his family were forced to step away from the Channel 4 show after he took a reported £100,000 fee to appear in Celeberity Big Brother back in 2014. Though last year he was allowed to return to the show along with his parents.

Meanwhile Steph & Dom have quit TV and faced controversy over their £200-a-night B&B and Scarlett Moffatt has gone on to become one of the most recogninsable faces on British TV after being crowned 2016’s Queen of the Jungle on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me out of Here.

Scarlett has since ruled out a return to Gogglebox, saying she would now “realise just how difficult” TV is after her high-profile presenting gigs including Saturday Night Takeaway.
