X Factor’s Kieran Alleyne becomes a dad as 5AM star tells fans ex-girlfriend has given birth to their son
Couple broke up last month but vowed to remain friends to co-parent their baby
X FACTOR star Kieran Alleyne's ex-girlfriend has given birth after a short labour - and he was right by her side.
The singer - one third of boyband 5AM - today tweeted this evening that he was a father.
He wrote: "Well damn..... I'm a dad."
Earlier today he told fans that he might be a bit quiet on social media as he prepared to meet his new arrival.
He wrote: "Gonna be a bit absent from Twitter for the next day or 2 but be sure to keep my notifs on though. Hope u understand (sic)."
Fans were quick to assume this meant that his pregnant ex Sophie Johnson had gone in to labour which Kieran seemed to confirm with a later post featuring a picture of a stork delivering a baby.
Despite splitting from Sophie Johnson last month, Kieran said at the time in an exclusive chat with The Sun: “I know she will be the most amazing mother to our son.
"I’m looking forward to us starting a new chapter together as great friends and committed parents to our baby boy.
“We are both incredibly excited to welcome him into the world together.”
Kieran rose to fame as part of 5AM, the group who landed in third place on last year’s series of The X Factor, and found out he was going to become a dad while competing in the live finals.

5AM might have lost out on The X Factor crown to Matt Terry, but that didn't stop them getting a record deal with Simon Cowell's record label - SyCo.
They're joined at SyCo by other ITV talent show icons including James Arthur, Little Mix, Fifth Harmony and Ella Henderson.
5AM seem so determined to emulate the success of previous X Factor stars that Kieran ditched Sophie and their baby just weeks before she gave birth so he wouldn't be distracted.
Kieran could not see his future with Sophie, who he dated for 16 months, but is intent on still being there for her and their newborn son.
Kieran said: “No matter what our relationship status may be, I still consider Sophie to be my best friend.
A pal said: “Kieran will still be at the birth and all his fans and friends know how important that is to him.
He is also committed to supporting both Sophie and their son going forward.”
A spokeswoman for the band added: “We can confirm Kieran and Sophie are no longer together. They remain close friends.”
