Towie’s Pete Wicks ‘devastated’ and ‘laying low’ after being accused of cheating on ex Megan McKenna during explosive bust-up
The 28-year-old is trying to put a brave face on Megan’s accusations but in private he’s struggling
PETE Wicks has been left ‘devastated’ by Megan McKenna’s claims that he cheated on her with a mystery woman during their relationship.
The former lovers had to be pulled apart by Towie’s TV crew during an explosive argument on an Essex street earlier this week, where Megan accused Pete of betraying her while he was in Scotland for work.
Although Pete previously told Megan he didn’t want “any nastiness” following their break up in March, the couple’s once adoring relationship has been ripped apart by her claims.
Megan’s accusations, which Pete has vehemently denied, have left the 28-year-old desperate to keep a low profile.
A source close to Pete told The Sun Online: “Pete knows he’s done nothing wrong but it’s been hard for him having Megan making these claims against him.
“He knows people will think he’s a love rat but it’s not who he is.
“He’s trying to lie low at the moment and wants to stay at home with his family until the dust settles.
“Pete has filming commitments with Towie and he knows he has to make the dates as he doesn’t want to let the cast and crew down.
“But apart from this, he just wants to remove himself from the public eye and spend some quality time with the people who mean the most to him.
“He's not enjoying the negative attention at all.”
Pete and Megan’s explosive argument saw the couple screaming at each other before they were dragged apart.
As well as accusing him of cheating and lying, Megan questioned Pete's relationship with his close friend Chloe Sims.
Their rollercoaster relationship was well documented, with The Sun Online revealing the pair were close to a split in September, after Megan found out Pete was texting other women.
Pete and Megan worked through their problems and appeared to be stronger than ever, however the cracks started to show and finally the couple revealed they had ended their romance.
Essex lad Pete has previously opened up about the strain of living in the private eye, telling The Sun Online last year that people would scream “c***” at him in the street when his relationship troubles with Megan came to light.
Pete explained: “It's all played out in public. People shout at me in the streets – they call me a c**t and all sorts of other things.”
When Pete joined the Towie cast for filming on Wednesday, Megan was no-where to be seen.
The source added: “For the time being Megan and Pete are going to be keeping a wide birth from one another. It’s been incredibly stressful for them both and they both alone.”
