Gemma Collins reveals best friend has offered to give her an egg as she vows nothing will stop her from having a baby
GEMMA Collins has revealed she will stop at nothing to have a baby during an appearance on Loose Women.
The reality star admitted that one of her best friend has offered to give her an egg after the star was given the devastating news that her low egg count meant she wouldn't be able to get them frozen.
Gemma explained to Loose Women panellists Ruth Langsford, Linda Robson, Janet Street-Porter and Gloria Hunniford how she was coping with her fertility struggles.
She explained: "I was really upset when they said I couldn't freeze my eggs. I would probably need to have an egg donor. But my best friend offered to give me an egg and that made me feel a bit more settled."
At the start of the chat, Gemma admitted: "I’m not feeling too sparkly. All my friends have got children and are married and at the weekends I’m on my own.
"Then I thought, ‘What if I never meet the one and I never become a mum?’ I’m 36 and I’m going to get my eggs frozen."
However, when Gemma was told her egg count for too low and would mean she would find it hard to conceive, she was understandably devastated.
She admitted: "I was just coming to get my eggs frozen and I’d been told I’m going to need an egg donor. I was here planning an egg freezing party, it was all very positive.
"I literally got the news on the camera. It was real. The show has been going for a long time that it’s only fair that I share that with my fans. But it just shows no amount of money or flashy lifestyle can give me a baby."
Gemma revealed she did start to blame herself as she quipped: "I did have a miscarriage, have I taken the morning after pill too many times.
"Obviously I do need to get my weight down a bit, we know that and we know I’ve struggled with that. There is a 1 in 10 chance I would fall pregnant naturally, which is really really low."
Gemma also stated: "I really hope and pray every night that I will meet this person and fall in love. I still hope but if I don’t meet that man then I will go on to have that baby on my own. I can give a child a lot of love and a good life."
She admitted to the presenters: "I do think that if I wasn’t in Towie, I might have had a normal life and just met someone and have kids by now.
"But Towie has been amazing, though if I could flip that coin then yeah I would have the family and the baby."
She declared: "As much as I’d love the dream of the family, I will do it on my own if it doesn't happen. Nothing is going to stop me."
In recent episodes of the ITVBe show, Gemma has been seen visiting a fertility clinic to discuss freezing her eggs – in the hope that she can have a child in the future.
