MasterChef’s John Torode reveals he’s not friends with co-star Gregg Wallace outside of the show
MASTERCHEF host John Torode has revealed he has "never been friends" with co-host Gregg Wallace and lifted the lid on an explosive drunken spat which saw filming suspended.
Restaurant owner John, 51, maintained his professional relationship on the BBC show with cheeky chap Gregg, who started up his own greengrocers, was just that.
Off camera, the Aussie chef said there was a distinct lack of banter.
Speaking to after the start of Masterchef's 10th series he admitted: "It’s funny, we’ve never been friends.
"We’ve not been to each other’s houses… He’s so OCD, he wouldn’t know what to do.
"He’d build it up in his mind for three days, and probably make himself quite sick, then he’d have an argument with his wife and not turn up. If I went to his house, he would feel like he wasn’t in control."
John admitted when the series took them away from London, the presenting pair explored separately.
That might be for the best, as John confessed when he and pudding-lover Gregg did come together, it has often resulted in fiery arguments.

He added: "If we do go out for a drink, I’ll invariably be at one end of a big old table and he’ll be at the other. Once, we had a bit too much to drink and filming got called off.
"We ended up having a massive fight about one of the contestants, and he got really stubborn – it was ridiculous.
"We’ve had a couple of standoffs over the years, about contestants, and I’ve just had to walk away from him."
John was born in Melbourne, Australia, but currently lives in London.
He is a talented chef behind successful restaurants Smiths of Smithfields and Luxe, in Spitalfields.
While working at Quaglino's, John first met his fellow MasterChef judge Gregg Wallace, who was running a vegetable supply company.
John met his partner Lisa, of Brookside and Holby City Fame, when she appeared on and won Celebrity MasterChef in 2010.
Meanwhile last year, Gregg married Anne-Marie, who is 21 years his junior, in an intimate ceremony at Hever Castle in Kent.
