Max George gives health update from hospital after terrifying dash for heart issues

The Wanted singer, 36, was rushed in last week after feeling unwell and then told he had to stay as he had cardiac issues.

Max, who has ditched booze after previous liver problems, then saw his heart rate dramatically drop, and he told yesterday how he will need to be fitted with a device to help stabilise it.

Pointing to his chest, he said in a video update: “The latest is that 100 per cent I am going to have a little friend put in here somewhere at some point.

“I have got an issue with the bottom part of my heart — it is called a block.

“The tricky bit is what I have put in because until I have further tests, we don’t know what caused it.

“We have cancelled out a few things like alcohol for example. I have not had a drink for 4½ years, so it isn’t that.”

Max went sober after he was told by a doctor his liver count was low following years of boozing on tour.

He went on: “My heart rate is really, really low, which they are monitoring 24/7. Everyone has been amazing but the waiting bit is tough, do you know what I mean? But yeah, it is just one of those things unfortunately and whatever I get I have just got to get on with it really and we are hoping pacemaker. Pacemaker is good.”

On Friday, his girlfriend Maisie Smith, 23, was seen out for the first time since Max was rushed to hospital.

The ex-EastEnders actress wrapped up in a long black coat and green scarf as she left The Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury, Kent, where she is playing Belle in Beauty and the Beast.

Max’s shock hospital admission comes two years after his Wanted bandmate and best pal Tom Parker died of brain cancer aged just 33.
