LORRAINE Kelly got into a fruity twist on her show after misunderstanding what Bake Off champ John Whaite meant by "kinkier" bananas.

The Scottish telly host giggled awkwardly after asking John to clarify his definition of "kinky" while he was making his Sticky Banana Upside Down Cake.

The 57-year-old did nothing to stave off accusations she has a dirty mind as she watched John preparing his dessert by slicing and arranging phallic fruit.

When it dawned on her that John, 27, was not trying to put filthy images in viewers' heads, Lorraine back-pedalled furiously.

"Oh, you mean the bendier!" she laughed, before adding: "No kinky bananas in 'ere!"

John must have felt like he'd gone back in time to the innuendo-filled Bake Off tent, which he became the victor of in 2012.

This isn't the first time Lorraine has been heard X-rated things come out of a guest's mouth as she also listened to Jamie O'Hara talk about Bianca Gascoigne being "on top" recently.

Lorraine airs weekdays at 8.30am on ITV.
