Netflix star José de la Torre, 37, dies months after suddenly announcing he was suffering with serious illness
AN actor has tragically died just months after announcing he had a serious illness.
José de la Torre, 37, was best known for playing Iván in the series Toy Boy on Netflix, died on Thursday.
The Spanish actor had been diagnosed with an unspecified “serious illness” in June.
The actor had been receiving treatment for his disease which had kept him out of the limelight for some time.
Actress Luisa Martín and singer Lolita Flores were among those to pay tribute to the actor online.
She wrote: “It breaks my heart to think I’ll never hear your voice again, but I’ll keep talking to you. Love you endlessly, José.”

Renowned Spanish singer Pablo Alborán also expressed his heartbreak, mourning the loss of a dear friend., saying: "I can't believe you're gone so soon.
"I'm devastated by your departure. I'm sending kisses to all of your family and friends.
"We'll never forget you Jose. Wherever you are, I'm sure you're wearing a Hawaiian shirt, a killer moustache, and those sunglasses like the ones we wore that day."
De la Torre once told local media: “From a very young age, I found solace in cinema - though not so much in acting, at least not at first.
“I was a child who couldn’t stop watching films, purely for the joy of it.
“But that captivated me and planted the seed that would later grow into my desire to pursue it as a career.”
Toy Boy was a popular Netflix show centred around a male stripper, which ran for two seasons and ended in 2021.
De la Torre also acted in Amar es para siempre, Vis a Vis: El Oasis, and Servir y proteger.
De la Torre was a graduate of the Málaga Higher School of Performing Arts in Spain.
In addition to acting, he worked as a model for renowned fashion, jewellery, and accessory brands.
He was from Montilla, Córdoba Province in Spain.
De la Torre is survived by his parents and sister.
It was June 3 that José lasted posted to his Instagram with the caption: "The joy of arriving in the Canary Islands, seeing your friends, grabbing a mojito, and singing your heart out until you lose your voice.”

He was seen enjoying a music festival in the Canary Islands.
His funeral was held in Montilla on Friday (6 Dec), as reported by NeedToKnow.
