Carol Vorderman cancels plans to fly solo around the world after mum’s shock cancer diagnosis
Carol cancelled plans for a trip that would make her the ninth woman in history to fly solo around to look after her mother, Edwina
CAROL VORDERMAN has cancelled her plans to fly solo around the world after her mum was diagnosed with terminal cancer.
And as a result it means the Channel 5 documentary, called Carol’s Incredible Solo Flight Around The World, has also been axed.
A source said: “Carol is obviously disappointed to not be able to go on the journey, but her mum is the most important person in her life and she’s putting her first.
“She wants to make the most of the time they have left and make sure they’re not distracted by any work commitments.
“Carol hopes she can revisit the trip at some point in the future again - and she plans to keep flying in her spare time.”
The Countdown star obtained her pilot’s licence in 2014 and was planning to tackle the feat in her twin-engine propeller plane nicknamed Mildred.
It would have seen her travel through Europe, across Asia, north to the eastern-most point of Russia, across the Pacific Ocean, the United States and then finally make her way back through the icy north towards the United Kingdom.
There’s no doubt Carol has made the right choice.
Trips around the world can happen at any time, but she should treasure the time she has left with her mama.
