Robbie Williams hit by fresh blow in battle over £17m mansion as council orders him to splash out MORE cash

It comes after Robbie sold his impressive LA property earlier this year

ROBBIE Williams has been ordered to pop down to his local garden centre and splash out on a tulip tree for the garden of his London mansion after winning a planning fight.

He's been given permission to chop down yet another tree at the lavish property after telling his local council it was diseased.

And that was despite opposition from a concerned local resident.

Now Robbie's won the battle to wield the axe, but chiefs in his borough have told him: "The Borough stipulates that in this case a tulip tree (Liriodendron tulipifera), or an alternative agreed species, of 20-25cm girth a shall be planted as a replacement.

"If the tree(s) is removed outside the planting season the new tree shall be planted in the next planting season following removal (the planting season runs from 1 November to 31 March).

"If it is removed during the planting season the new tree shall be planted in the same planting season.

"If, within five years of the date of planting, the replacement tree/s dies, is removed or becomes seriously dangerous or diseased, it shall be replaced in the next planting season with another tree/s of the same size and species."

Robbie's application said: "Norway Maple - remove due extensive decay at the base (Honey fungus). Replant with species tbc."

But one person said in a letter of objection to the council: " There is no explanation as to why this tree need be felled, only a series of photos showing parts of it are damaged.

"Should there not be a written report that accompanies each proposed felling and what courses of action could be done before the final resort of felling this tree?"

He’s chopped down a string of trees at his pad in recent years.

One angry person said of a previous application: “Hello, I wish to object very strongly to this application.

“Mr Williams has already been granted permission to chop down several trees at his property and now another seems likely to fall victim to his wishes.

“How many more does he wish to eradicate from his property? Trees are our friends and not our enemies. We must love them - and not to take an axe to them.”

It comes after Robbie sold his impressive LA property earlier this year.

Robbie's property portfolio

The pop star once owned mansions all over the world worth a total of £44million.

After selling his homes in Los Angeles, Switzerland and Wiltshire, he now lives a quiet life in London.

The chart topper moaned he and his family "haven't got an abode" after shifting his "haunted" country mansion for £6.75million in January 2022.

He also offloaded his Los Angeles pad, and it was quickly snapped up by rapper Drake for £37million after the asking price was dropped from $100million (£76million).

Pop star Robbie also quit Switzerland to move his family back to the UK for good, after getting "bored" of the Alpine lifestyle.

The former Take That man sold the £24million mansion he shared with wife Ayda and their four children Teddy, Charlton, Coco, and Beau.

A source said at the time: “Robbie and Ayda have loved living in Switzerland the last few years, and the tranquility was a god-send during the pandemic.

“But they’ve decided they want to mix it up a bit and have a different pace of life for a bit. So they’re heading back to London.

“They’ve done quite a lot of work to it, and with the housing market on the up they reckon they’re going to make a fortune on it.”

He flogged his mansion in the uber-rich Holmby Hills for a staggering £75million — making a handsome £35.7 million profit.

He bought the three-house estate, featuring eight bedrooms, 11 bathrooms, pool, tennis court and garage fit for 15 luxury cars, for £39.3million in March 2022.

It was nicknamed the Funny Girl Estate, having originally been built by comedian Fanny Brice, whose life story inspired hit musical Funny Girl.

It was never actively on the market, which suggests Robbie and his wife Ayda Field got an offer they couldn’t refuse.

It was snapped up by Australian billionaire Nick Molnar, who co-founded the buy now, pay later firm Afterpay.

The former Take That singer has sold four properties in the past two years, with the only asset being his £17.5million home in Kensington, West London.

In March 2022, his Beverly Hills home was bought by rapper Drake for £59.5million, then he flogged his Wiltshire country pad for £6.75million.

His Swiss mansion near Lake Geneva was also put on the market for £24million.

Robbie said last year: “We don’t want to live in California all the time. It’s just not the best place in the world to be raising teenagers and we’re going to have four teenagers eventually."
