Coronation Street’s Sally Metcalfe’s long-lost sister Gina might be familiar to some soap fans… she was unhinged Cathy Bradford in The Bill
Telly fans might remember how she tired to set herself and lover on fire
CORONATION Street newcomer Connie Britton previously terrified teatime telly fans when she starred on The Bill as an unhinged WPC.
The actress, joining the ITV soap as Sally Metcalfe's long lost sister Gina Seddon, appeared on the police drama for two years as Cathy Bradford.
During her time at Sunhill, Cathy became obsessed with colleague Brandon Kane, and went out of her way to ruin his life - and his exes, her new lesbian lover and the copper's children.
She even stabbed herself with a hypodermic needle to coax him in to bed for a passionate lovemaking session for sympathy reasons.
Cathy went on to kill Tanya after she revealed she wanted to get back with Brandon, and saw one colleague be sent down for murder.
She also beat herself black and blue to blame it on a colleague who was 'stalking' her, and set Brandon's house on fire so that he would move her and his kids in to her house.
However, one of his children proved to be her downfall when they find a CCTV tape that shows her at the carpark at the same time their mum was pushed down a flight of stairs to her death.
After trying to set herself - and Brandon - on fire in a huge boiler room fire, Cathy was sectioned.
At present, it's not known if Gina will be as lively as Cathy, but the chances are that she'll ruffle plenty of feathers as she makes her big return to Weatherfield.
Earlier this month it was revealed that Sally's daughters Rosie and Sophie would find their aunt after they spot her while window cleaning.
New snaps show Sally (Sally Dynevor) walking nervously up to a house with husband Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine) by her side for support.
But as soon as the sisters lock eyes with one another they fall into a happy embrace and are seen laughing and joking with one another.
Sally’s younger sister Gina hasn’t been seen on the street since 1989 when she left and married a long-distance lorry driver.
She now has two children and has been infrequently mentioned and used as an excuse when actress Sally Dynevor has taken a break from the show.
- Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights on ITV
