Tom Hardy looks dapper filming Peaky Blinders with Cillian Murphy wearing a suit on Southport beach with Woody the dog
TOM Hardy may have pulled some strings to have a very special guest join him on set of the new series of Peaky Blinders.
The 39-year-old British star was joined by his four legged friend Woody in between takes of the gritty BBC gangster period drama.
Woody – who is a Labrador mix – was spied skipping around Southport Beach on Friday where series four of the drama is currently filming.
Tom himself looked almost dapper as he dressed up in a waistcoat, dark trousers, striped shirt and heavy boots.
The Hollywood action man looked rugged with a shaggy beard as he going into character for the returning show.
Tom plays a character named Alfie Solomons in the BBC Two series who is the leader of a Jewish gang.
His character has a somewhat difficult relationship with Tommy Shelby – played by Cillian Murphy.
The duo have clashed in previous series – with Tommy even coming close to killing Alfie in the recent third season.
It looks like there will be more drama in series four – which may not air until 2018 – as Cillian has also been spotted filming in the Southport area.
It is unclear if Woody himself will land a role on the hit drama – however Tom has never been shy when it comes to discussing his love for dogs.
“I’m an absolute sucker for dogs, and I normally find a dog on every film I do,” the star told Refinery29 in 2014.
“They always end up in the house somehow, even if I have to take it from someone’s car. I’ve got no scruples. There’s always a way for a stray,” he said.
Tom has even claimed in the past that he is only friends with dogs.
“I don’t have any friends. I don’t keep them or entertain them for any of that kind of problem. So I like to keep [to] myself. I have a dog and a son,” he said back in 2012.
“A dog couldn’t do anything to upset me, you know, and neither could my son,” he added.
He also thinks his son – born in 2008 with then-girlfriend Rachel Speed (he since has a second son born in 2015 with wife Charlotte Riley) – and his dog at the time, Max, would recognise him even when in character.
”My dog and son recognize me no matter what,” he said in 2011 – before sharing that Max had died.
“Actually, my dog’s dead now so he won’t. We had him cremated. There’s a cardboard box of his ashes on our sofa that we’re working out what to do with. I might put him in a pillow,” he said.
Woody has recently appeared alongside Tom while he has been reading stories on CBeebies.
The hunk is set to reappear on the hit children’s show in time for Mother’s Day.
