Earlier this month, The Sun revealed that on top of tickets costing £70 for an adult, fans would have been charged £26.80 a pop for souvenir snaps with judges including Darcey Bussell, Craig Revel Horwood and Bruno Tonioli.

The same fee applied for a picture with host Tess Daly or spin-off show presenter Zoe Ball.

Pro dancers such as Anton du Beke, Natalie Lowe, Aljaz Skorjanec and Oti Mabuse were set to pose for £21.80.

Unveiling the show, Craig Revel Horwood hailed it “a dream come true” and said: “I can’t wait to see you there.”

A BBC spokesman said: “Our live tour remains incredibly popular but demand for The Spectacular has not been as strong as we had hoped so we’ve taken the difficult decision to cancel it.

“We are sorry for any disappointment. Ticketholders will be refunded.”
