Troubled star Danny Dyer to return to EastEnders on Monday after being forced to take a break to ‘sort his life out’

The soap actor was told to take an extended break from the show following a number of boozy meltdowns

EASTENDERS star Danny Dyer has returned to work after taking an extended break to “sort his life out”.

The “exhausted” actor, 39, has not been on set in Elstree, Hertfordshire, for more than a month as he jetted off to South Africa alone to recuperate.

But he is expected back for filming as early as Monday after collecting scripts for his character Mick Carter this week.

A source said: “Everyone is looking forward to having a refreshed Danny back on the show.

“He’s a big character on and off the set and his absence was really noticeable.

The ‘exhausted’ actor is said to be refuelled and raring to go with filming

“Danny has taken some time out and is raring to go again.

“He’ll be required for scenes from the start of next week.”

The Sun revealed how the party animal actor stopped filming suddenly in February after talks with show bosses.

We then revealed video footage of Danny being calmed by co-stars in a meltdown after the National Television Awards weeks earlier.

Witnesses have told how EastEnders stars had to step in as raging Danny “kicked off” after the bash.

Danny, whose character has been at the centre of several big storylines, flew to Cape Town, South Africa, without wife Jo, 40, or their three children Dani, 19, Sunnie, eight, and son Arty, two.

He landed back in England last week after an extended break.

There were concerns that he might leave permanently, with his £400,000 a year contract set to expire in November.

His absence will only just start to be seen on screen by fans of the show, as it is filmed six weeks in advance.

Funeral scenes for his on-screen grandmother Sylvie were shot last week and Danny was not present.
Danny joined the show in 2013.
