The Queen Vic pub landlord - who is played by actor Danny Dyer - has made his final appearance for a while on the soap after actor Danny took a break to deal with personal issues.
His exit came about as Mick rushed into the Queen Vic upstairs and revealed daughter Nancy was hit by a car in Bulgaria and he had to leave.
The scene, which lasted less than a minute, saw Whitney booking a flight to Sofia for Mick after he received the shocking news. The cash-strapped family were forced to dip into baby Oli's savings to pay for the flights.
Mick seemed preoccupied as he went to visit sister Shirley in prison with Tina and during the visit, he insists Linda knows what is going on at home while she's away.
As the family discussed their financial woes, he said: "I can do this, I can turn this round."
But when the till stops working in the Vic, Mick lost it, slamming his hands into it before pulling it off the bar and chucking it over the top and on the floor.
Ian Beale then offers Mick the till from the restaurant, and said he knows what he felt like as he had fallen on hard times himself.
Mick replied: "This has nothing to do with luck, this is down to me.
"Just give me some space."
When Ian returned home, he told wife Jane Mick was in a "dark place" and wouldn't listen to him.
She decided to takes matters into her own hands and calls Linda.
As Linda - played by Kelly Bright - can be heard saying hello, Jane said seriously: "I think you'd better come home"
Linda can be heard asking why and as Jane replied: "It's Mick", the camera went to him lying on his bed, with tears streaming down his face.
