When is Comic Relief 2017 on TV, who’s in the line-up to perform and what is the Red Nose Day Best Auction Ever?

GET those red noses firmly in place because Comic Relief is back TONIGHT promising another night of top comedy all for a good cause.

Comedians, actors, musicians and fundraisers from all across the UK will be taking part in the live biennial telethon.

But when is it taking place, who exactly will be performing and what else can viewers expect on the night? Here's what we know.

When is Comic Relief 2017 on TV?

The Comic Relief telethon starts tonight on BBC One on Friday March 24 at 7pm.

The event, which will broadcast live from London's O2 Arena, will run right through to 2.30am on the Saturday morning.

It will briefly switch to BBC Two when coverage on BBC One breaks News At Ten from 10pm to 10.40pm.

Who will be hosting the event?

The presenting duties will be split among some of Britain's best comedians, actors and TV hosts.

Sir Lenny Henry, who is one of the founding members of the Red Nose Day telethon, will kick off proceedings and will be helped by presenter Jonathan Ross.

Comedians Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan will also be co-hosting along with actors sally Phillips, Warwick Davis and Miranda Hart.

Who's in the line-up to perform?

The night will be crammed with performances from some of the UK's best actors, musicians and comedians keeping the audience and viewers entertained throughout the during the seven-and-a-half hour event.

Organisers have described the night as “TV’s most unpredictable night of raucous horseplay ever”.

There will be live performances from the much-loved comedy duos Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders and Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer and Johnny Vegas and Joe Lycett take over the cooking and serving duties at pizza restaurant inside the O2.

James Corden presents an exclusive Car Pool Karaoke from LA with Take That, there'll be comedy from Mrs Brown’s Boys and Graham Norton will welcome guests to a super-sized sofa.

There's also the eagerly-awaited sequel to the 2003 rom-com Love, Actually - Red Nose Day Actually - featuring most of the original cast including Liam Neeson, Andrew Lincoln, Hugh Grant and Martine McCutcheon.

Sketches will come courtesy of Alan Partridge, Peter Kay and David Walliams and there will be live music from Ed Sheeran, Rag'n'Bone Man and Emeli Sande.

The event will also broadcast a special Hot Tub segment from actor and comedian Greg Davis, Russell Brand will debut some new stand-up material and there will be a special Smack the Pony reunion.

Strictly Come Dancing star Ed Balls takes on the dances from La La Land - as well as his Gangnam Style routine which he did on the show and made him an instant hit with fans.

And to wrap up proceedings, Noel Fielding and Jonathan Ross will be looking back at some special Red Nose Day Musical Memories in a segment called 'Fantastic Beats & Where to Find Them'.

Of course, throughout the night, there will be a number of films aired that will show the work that Comic Relief does in the UK and Africa.

Is there anything happening in the lead up to the big night?

There have been other events taking place in the countdown to Friday night's telethon.

On Tuesday March 21, Radio 1 DJ Sara Cox took part in a danceathon which saw her boogie on down to some of the best songs from the Eighties in 24 hours.

At the last count, at 8.30am on Wednesday March 22, she had raised a whopping £905,239!

There's also Let's Sing and Dance for Comic Relief which has seen celebrities dress up as pop stars and perform one of their most famous hits.

The first episode aired on Saturday March 4 and one of the acts was Xtra Factor host Matt Edmundson taking on Nicki Minaj.

The second episode, which aired March 11 saw new Blue, Five and the lads from S Club 7 come together as ultimate boy band Boys Allowed, while the third episode, which aired on March 18, saw Gogglebox's Steph and Dom transform into Cher and Meatloaf.

Other celebs also took part and the winner will be crowned from six acts during the final on Saturday March 25 at 6.55pm on BBC One.
