Broadchurch introduces convicted rapist Aaron Mayford into the plot – but did you recognise actor Jim Howick’s familiar face from children’s TV?

BROADCHURCH has introduced one of the show’s creepiest characters: convicted rapist Aaron Mayford.

While most viewers were horrified by the sinister character, others were more upset that he was played by popular children’s TV actor Jim Howick.

If the name rings a bell, it’s because Jim starred in CBBC show Horrible Histories.

The programme was an educational programme packaged into a series of comedy sketches which were funny and informative.

As Aaron threatened DC Katie Harford – who could forget his menacing “I like you watching me” line – Broadchurch fans went online to reveal their horror.

One wrote: “Why was the guy from Horrible History's on broadchurch tonight as a rapist? My childhood is ruined.

Another tweeted: “Cba that man from horrible histories being the rapist on broadchurch. Ruined my childhood.”

Jim's shock appearance in the show isn't the only thing that got people talking in the third series.

Fans of the hit ITV drama have become obsessed with David Tennant's incredible facial expressions as DCI Alec Hardy.

The third series of Broadchurch is now in its final stretch and the plot has continued to twist and turn.

With Jim Atwood revealed as Trish Winterman's secret lover and a convicted rapist living just hours away - it seems Hardy and Miller are still no closer to solving the crime.
