Emmerdale fans divided over latest ‘Robron’ drama as Robert Sugden fails to confess his infidelity to husband Aaron Dingle
Robert's latest liaison with Rebecca White was covered up at the last minute by Aaron's mum Chas during prison visit
EMMERDALE fans were left divided on Monday night after Robert Sugden failed to confess all about his latest betrayal to husband Aaron Dingle.
Viewers watched aghast last week as the character locked lips with ex-girlfriend Rebecca White after discovering his locked up spouse had turned to drugs to cope with prison life.
Confessing his sins to Aaron's mum Chas, she insisted her son needed to know the truth, and the pair headed off to prison with Robert ready to face the music.
As Aaron joined them in the visiting room, both men got tearful as Robert told him he had let him down, with Aaron imploring his other half to tell him what he had done.
As Robert welled up, Aaron grew increasingly distressed, but just as Robert was about to confess, Chas stepped in and lied, saying Robert had trashed their home after discovering Aaron's drug secret.
The decision left viewers, many of whom are obsessed with the 'Robron' relationship, in turmoil over whether the pair had done the right thing or not by lying to Aaron.
One wrote alongside a montage of Aaron's (Danny Miller) face on Twitter: "Anyone else think Aaron knows what Robert did... the way he was looking at Robert, its like he knew but didn't want it confirmed #Robron".
Another added: "I swear Aaron knew what Robert was going to say. He looked so hurt when he said 'what have you done?'
A third feared the worst for the couple, writing: "Oh, God. I can see this secret coming back & blowing everything up later on. I wish they had just told him & not drag out this sl #Robron".
A fellow viewer was furious with Chas, saying: "Can't believe that Chas isn't planning on telling Aaron even when he gets out, what's this turning into? Aaron deserves the truth".
However Robert did have a number of fans on his side, with one writing: "I think it affects me more when Rob cries than when Aaron does bc it happens so rarely you just know he must be feeling SO broken."
A fellow viewer agreed, sharing a gif of Robert's tearful face, writing: "It annoys when people say that Robert isn't hurting or that he doesn't care. Take one look at this face & you can see it all.#Robron."
- Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV at 7pm
