Family were left devastated after their home was destroyed
THIS Morning viewers were horrified today as a family told of how burglars destroyed their home - and stole £8,000 of equipment - which had been adapted for their disabled son Milo.
Stephen Browne and his partner Laura Davidson revealed their terror after thieves ransacked Milo's sensory room which the family had raised £19,000 to install in their home.
Milo suffers from an extremely rare condition known as M3BHA which only affects around eight other people in the world.
The four-year-old needs round-the-clock care and the family had moved out while their home was adapted to better suit his needs.
However, on the day before they were due to move back in Laura discovered the windows had been smashed, the house wrecked and their laptops with precious photos of Milo stolen.
Stephen explained: "The sensory room was already put in place, we were installing a wet room and we had to move out for the council to change the rooms all around.
"It was all interior work to accommodate Milo's needs and while it was going on we were in temporary accommodation which gave us an opportunity to decorate the house without affecting him."
Laura continued: "I took our other son Felix to school and then went to the house. I rang Stephen to ask if he'd opened up the windows and pulled the blinds back but he said it wasn't him and didn't think anything of it."
As she made her way around the back of the house, she saw the windows had been smashed and she called the police.
Laura also revealed how they took their laptops and memory sticks which contained precious pictures of their son.
She added: "They took 8 grand worth of stuff, including the big switch for his sensory room which he could press himself and they took the adaptor to charge the switch so he can't even use it."
Since the break-in Stephen has slept at the house in case the thieves attack again, describing the burglary as a "personal attack" on his son.
He said: "I've refused to leave the home since then, any man would want to protect their home. We don't know when we'll be able to move back in."
Viewers at home were disgusted at what happened to the family and many took to Twitter to express their rage.
One wrote: "The people who robbed off that poor child are nothing but scumbags! #ThisMorning".
A second said: "just seen the burglary story, such a disgusting thing I am honestly in shock that any person could be so cruel and vile #ThisMorning".
