Strictly Come Dancing bosses eyeing up boozy Gogglebox couple Steph and Dom for this year’s competition
The duo are set to appear on Let’s Sing and Dance for Comic Relief this week, and TV bigwigs are apparently viewing thier performance as a trial run for Strictly
BOOZY Gogglebox duo Steph and Dom Parker are being lined up by Strictly Come Dancing bosses for this year’s series.
Producers think they will provide the same hilarious dance moves that made former Shadow Chancellor Ed Balls’ performances viral internet sensations on the BBC1 show.
The couple are performing as Cher and Meatloaf in Saturday night’s Let’s Sing and Dance for Comic Relief — with Strictly bigwigs viewing it as a trial run to see how they are received.
A source said: “They’re great characters and everyone loves watching them just when they’re sat on their sofa.
“Dom has the potential to provide great routines like Ed did and Steph would be fantastic going up against the judges.
“They’re definitely on the list and this weekend’s show is a great way to see how they look on stage.”
Strictly chiefs have a history of using the charity dance show to recruit contestants.
Darren Gough, 46, Scott Mills, 42, Dani Harmer, 28, Vanessa Feltz, 55, Tameka Empson, 39, Kate Garraway, 49, and Richard Arnold, 47, all appeared on Let’s Dance before Strictly.

Dom, 52 , and Steph, 49, would be the first married couple to take part in Strictly since Gabby and Kenny Logan in 2007.
The posh pair left Gogglebox last year following a three-year stint where they were regularly seen glugging booze from their own bar at their luxury B&B in Kent.
It follows several TV specials they made for Channel 4 where then UKIP leader Nigel Farage and Jason Donovan spent a night with them.
A BBC spokesman said: “Nothing has been confirmed for the next series of Strictly.”
