Taking to Instagram, Kate Ferdinand shared her transformation into Shrek 2's The Fairy Godmother, who was voiced by Jennifer Saunders.

Ex-footballer husband Rio, meanwhile, dressed up as Lord Farquaad, the franchise's original baddie.

Thrilled followers soon flooded Kate's comments section to share their thoughts.

One wrote: "Brilliant!!! Love this."

Another commented: "Absolutely amazing! Rio looks absolutely delighted to be there!"

While a third penned: "Oh you guys look brilliant."

A fourth joked: "Never mind that, do you know the muffin man?", referencing a line from the films.

Kate previously shared a sweet tribute to eldest stepson Lorenz as he celebrated his 18th birthday.

The blended family marked his special occasion with an all-out bash earlier this year.

She posted two photos into her Instagram story – one from when Lorenz was just a child sitting on her lap, while the other was from his 18th birthday party.

Kate joked he was “towering over her now” and wrote: “Happy 18th birthday to our eldest.

"I am forever proud of you and so grateful I have you in my life. 

“Keep shining. Love you always xxx."

Last year, the star opened up on how her family honours the memory of Rio's late first wife Rebecca Ellison.

Rebecca died in 2015, aged 34, following a battle with breast cancer.

Speaking to Fabulous, Kate said: “It’s difficult for people to understand [that they have a room covered with pictures of Rebecca].

"She is the children’s mum and is a part of our lives and a part of our family.

"She’s always going to be a part of our life. It would be bizarre not to have things of hers.";
