Strictly Come Dancing’s Danny Mac lands leading theatre role in On The Town

The star will keeeeeeep dancing in Regent Park's open air theatre

STRICTLY Come Dancing star Danny Mac will keeeeeeep dancing this summer as he has landed a role in a new musical production.

The 29-year-old former Hollyoaks star will be looking ship shape as a sailor named Gabey in a new open air production of On The Town.

Danny is the biggest name attached to the new production that will be taking over Regent’s Park open air theatre between 19 May and 1 July 2017.

Taking to Twitter to share his casting, Danny wrote: “I’m very excited to share this next adventure.”

He also described his fellow cast as a “fantastic lot,” while telling fans: “Hope to see you there!”

Danny enjoyed huge success on Strictly Come Dancing last year

On The Town was originally a 1944 Broadway musical and follows three sailors enjoying 24 hour shore leave in New York city.

It was adapted into a 1949 film directed by Gene Kelly and Stanley Donen – starring Gene alongside Frank Sinatra and Ann Miller – which bagged an Oscar for Best Music.

Danny was a contestant on series 14 of Strictly Come Dancing in 2016 – coming in second place behind winner Ore Oduba.

The star recently confessed he might take a more active role behind-the-scenes now that he is getting back into the acting game.

“I’m currently writing a pilot for a series concept, so I’d love to get that down,” this month.

However he also added that his ultimate dream would be something quite different from acting altogether

Danny says he longs to be a farmer

“I’d buy a farm – look after and take in as many animals as possible. Especially dogs,” he said.

“There’s something about being around animals that makes everything seem so simple,” he continued.

“They require the most basic things to be happy and it always gives me great perspective in a world where we all strive for so much,” he added.
