Katie Piper fears she’ll miss her daughter Belle’s birthday for a second year in a row after being rushed to hospital suffering from a preseptal cellulitis infection

KATIE Piper has revealed fears she could miss her daughter Belle's birthday for the second year in a row, as she updated her fans on her health from her hospital bed.

The inspirational acid attack victim has been struck down with Preseptal cellulitis infection, an infection of the eye, and revealed the painful-looking results in a close-up selfie.

Sharing an update from hospital today, Katie wrote: "Thank you for all your msgs- I'm in hospital with Pre Septal cellulitis infection, having treatment and hoping to go home tomorrow sometime fingers crossed.

"Think I'm jinx on this day second time I've been in hospital for Belles birthday!"

It comes after the star opened up to her fans about coping with complications as a result of her injuries.

Back in 2008, the TV star suffered horrific injuries  when an ex-boyfriend arranged for a pal to throw sulphuric acid into her face.

She was immediately treated in Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, where the surgeons removed all the skin from her face before rebuilding it with a skin substitute and then a skin graft.

She still regularly undergoes medical procedures to this day and opened up to her fans about the day to day struggles of her injuries.

Speaking in a video on Instagram, Katie said: "So I just got in from work and wanted to make a video to show you this is something that happens when you've got injuries from the past near eyes.

 She said the infections usually clear up within a few days

"Today I've come out in a really bad infection, I have a lot of antibiotic creams and stuff, my own little supply that I keep at home.

"So I'm going to treat it with some antibiotic cream and some drops, let me know if you have sensitive eyes or eye problems.

"This happens to me quite a lot but it usually clears up in a couple of days."

Her followers rushed to send her messages of support and to tell their own stories of eye problems.

One wrote: "I  get asked who would I most like to meet I always say you. Your inner strength is remarkable and an inspiration to us all."

Another said: "You look incredible so pretty stunning beautiful lady , we love you xx."

A third added: "Words cannot express how much you inspire people. Love everything you do. Reading your confidence book at the moment, so helpful and encouraging. Thank you.x"

Meanwhile, it was recently revealed Katie's inspirational life story is set to hit the silver screen.

She told the : “Somebody in America bought the film rights last year and they have renewed them this year.”

In 2015, she married Richard James Sutton, and together they have a young daughter called Belle.
