Coronation Street sex grooming storyline takes a sinister turn… but is Nathan’s accomplice Mel having second thoughts?

CORONATION Street’s sex grooming storyline took a sinister turn tonight as evil Nathan Curtis called Bethany Platt his “star attraction”.

Nathan, who has been grooming the schoolgirl as part of the soap’s current a sex ring plot, was seen looking pleased with himself after an online chat with the 16-year-old.

As he wished the youngster goodnight, he turned off his laptop, looked at accomplice Mel and said: “It’s been a good day! Tomorrow we get to show off our new star attraction.”

But Mel, who has been in cahoots with Nathan, looked like she was having second thoughts about her involvement in the sick scheme.

Nathan, who is 35, was invited to dinner by Bethany’s mum Sarah earlier in the episode and after their meal, he left with Bethany but brought her home a few hours later.

Bethany, 16, then has an online chat with Nathan who is back at home, and chats away telling her how much she means to him.

He then wished her goodnight and turned off his laptop and looked very pleased with himself.

He then looked at Mel and said he was finally going to show off their “star attraction.”

But Mel didn’t look as happy as Nathan, suggesting she might be having doubts about being a part of it all.

And fans took to Twitter to react to the shocking scene as one wrote: “I legit feel so uncomfortable watching #corrie when that Nathan is on it he gives me the fear.

And another added: “The Bethany & Nathan storyline is getting haunting & haunting by the day- but such a crucial storyline to highlight it really is.

Nathan could have been referring to scenes that were revealed this week where Bethany gets dolled up to the nines to attend a party with her boyfriend.

But once there, she realises she’s the only female guest as her pervert boyfriend’s plans to pimp her out take a step closer.

Mel is also there as the male guests surround Bethany and start to chat her up but she is unaware that Mel is in on the plot.

Tonight’s episode also saw the naïve teenager give the police a false alibi so Nathan could be released from custody after being arrested for assault.
