Hollyoaks spoilers: Mac Nightingale struggles at Dog In The Pond relaunch amid guilt about affair with Lisa Loveday after Nathan’s death
Nathan's fall from the top floor of The Dog after finding out about Mac and Lisa's affair shook the Nightingales to their core
HOLLYOAKS’ beloved pub The Dog In The Pond is set to relaunch after renovations, but owner Mac Nightingale is struggling after son Nathan’s shock death.
Nathan’s horrific fall from the top floor of The Dog, through a window with no glass in it, shook the Nightingale family to its core last month.
Now that work on the pub is completed it could be easier for the family to return to their normal lives.
But Mac is wracked with guilt after Nathan staggered to his death amid a tussle over his dad’s affair with fiancée Lisa Loveday.
Mac gets cold feet about his speech at the relaunch, but Marnie encourages him to carry on with it having recovered from her shocking mental breakdown in the wake of Nathan’s death.
Later, Lisa overhears Mac practising his speech and is disgusted.
She reminds him it’s their fault Nathan is dead - as he would not have fought Mac or fallen from the window if he had not been shocked by their affair.
When Mac takes to the stage for his speech, Lisa’s words echo in his head and he struggles to get through it, despite having Marnie at his side.
Seeing how badly Mac is taking Nathan’s death, Marnie encourages him to slow down and let Ellie take charge of running the pub. It’s a difficult decision, but he agrees.
