Phillip Schofield hints This Morning paid Paul Burrell £20,000 for interview

Phillip Schofield left viewers shocked as he hinted at the fee This Morning paid for Paul Burrell to speak exclusively about coming out as a gay man.

Princess Diana's former butler was on the show to speak with Phil and Holly Willoughby about his life with his new partner and their upcoming wedding.

Towards the end of the interview, Phillip asked if Paul would be taking a magazine deal for his upcoming wedding, which led the the presenter hinted at just how much Paul earnt for taking part in the interview.

Paul responded to Phil's question saying: "I must answer you. One thing that's worrying me about getting married in a couple of weeks time is the security of it.

"Now everybody knows when it is going to be and where it is going to be, what do I about that.

He continued: "I need to control it. I will need security. If that comes at a cost then that will have to come at a cost."

Phil countered that security would surely not cost too much to which Paul responded: "I don't know, nearly £20,000 or £30,000."

Phil then quipped: "So nearly as much as we paid you for this interview. You don't need a magazine deal, we've bought your security."

 

."

In the interview, Paul admitted he was surprised he had been able to keep his relationship with husband-to-be Cooper secret for so long.

He also stated that  he would remain true to his comments in previous interviews and would not write or release another book about Princess Diana.
