Phillip Schofield left viewers shocked as he hinted at the fee This Morning paid for Paul Burrell to speak exclusively about coming out as a gay man.

Towards the end of the interview, Phillip asked if Paul would be taking a magazine deal for his upcoming wedding, which led the the presenter hinted at just how much Paul earnt for taking part in the interview.
Paul responded to Phil's question saying: "I must answer you. One thing that's worrying me about getting married in a couple of weeks time is the security of it.
"Now everybody knows when it is going to be and where it is going to be, what do I about that.
He continued: "I need to control it. I will need security. If that comes at a cost then that will have to come at a cost."

Phil countered that security would surely not cost too much to which Paul responded: "I don't know, nearly £20,000 or £30,000."
Phil then quipped: "So nearly as much as we paid you for this interview. You don't need a magazine deal, we've bought your security."
Paul laughed: "I'll hold you to that."
Viewers flocked to Twitter in reaction to Phil's statement as one wrote: "Are you joking??!! £20-30k for an interview with Paul Burrell. He's gay so what? Only people who might care knew 10 years ago #ThisMorning "
Another wrote: "#thismorning don't think he was getting paid 20k for an interview. Otherwise I'm on tomorrow chatting for that fee."
One viewer questioned: "Did they pay him 30 grand ."
In the interview, Paul admitted he was surprised he had been able to keep his relationship with husband-to-be Cooper secret for so long.
He also stated that he would remain true to his comments in previous interviews and would not write or release another book about Princess Diana.
