Who is Adam Henson? Countryfile host and Farming Today expert with a farm in the Cotswolds

ADAM Henson is a familiar face to the millions who tune into Countryfile on Sunday evenings.

But as well as his TV work, Adam is a farming expert with over 50 flocks of rare breed animals at his Cotswolds home from which he often broadcasts. Here's everything you need to know about him...

Who is Adam Henson?

Adam is a farmer, author and television presenter who is best known for appearing on BBC One's Countryfile.

The dad-of-two joined the show in 2001 when he applied to join and was chosen out of 3,500 applicants.

In December, Adam had viewers in hysterics after an innuendo-filled segment on the rural show.

He in another memorable episode, he was a little sheepish after losing control of his flock in Stratford-on-Avon's aptly-named Sheep Street.

As well as his TV work, Adam runs with pal Duncan Andrews, which has more than 50 flocks of rare breed farm animals.

Who is Adam Henson's wife?

Adam lives with his partner Charlie Gilbert and their daughter Ella and son Alfie at Bemborough Farm, Gloucestershire, where Adam was born.

He and Charlie aren't married but have known each other from school.

Adam is close to his family and has opened up about the grief he felt since the death of his father in 2015.

He told : "Right from my first days, he was my rock, my mentor, my hero.

"It’s no exaggeration to say he taught me virtually all I know about farming and television."

What is Cotswold Farm Park?

Adam and his three sisters grew up helping their dad at the attraction, which was the first domestic rare breeds farm to open to the public.

The site near Cheltenham, which launched in 1971, now attracts 70,000 visits a year and in 2014 won Farm Attraction of the Year.

Adam has said his first countryside memory is being knocked over by a flock of sheep.

What books has Adam Henson written?

Adam has written two books about his life in farming - Countryfile: Adam's Farm: My life on the Land in 2011, and Like Farmer Like Son in 2016.

Despite his literary efforts, Adam has said he wished he enjoyed reading more.

He told : "I’m not very well read and I think I’m slightly dyslexic. I wish I enjoyed reading more books."

What other TV shows has Adam Henson appeared in?

Adam - who has been dubbed a sex symbol by some - joined forces with chef Nigel Slater for the BBC's Nigel and Adam's Farm Kitchen.

He has also presented Gardener's World Live and Radio 4's Farming Today.

Adam briefly appeared in the 1995 film Braveheart with Mel Gibson after taking some rare breed cows to appear in the movie.
