THIS Morning viewers were left in tears on Friday after a couple with Down's Syndrome became engaged live on air.
Niki Wyatt and Samantha Lochrie appeared on the show alongside their mums Jackie and Kim to discuss the fact the couple were banned from kissing at their local youth club.
Their behaviour was deemed 'inappropriate' despite them both being over 18, but after discussing what happened, the story took a more upbeat turn.
Given his cue by his mum, Niki, 30, got up from the sofa and got down on one knee in front of his girlfriend, producing a ring and asking her to marry him.
Samantha, 23, immediately said yes, and melted the hearts of the nation at the same time.
One viewer said: "That was actually the cutest thing I've ever watched", while another added: "Sam & Nicky, it's hard to find love nowadays. U 2 are gorgeous & lucky to hav each other. Sooo cute! Beautiful [sic]".
A third agreed, writing: "Aww crying so much at the wee Down syndrome couple getting engaged on @thismorning."
The couple then shared a kiss for the cameras as their proud mums watched on with tears in their eyes.
Their plight and romance was too much for some viewers to handle, with one writing on Twitter: "Just blubbered my eyes out.
"I have a gorgeous Down's Syndrome nephew & I want him to live his life without prejudice."
Another said: "I'm not normally an emotional person but this story even left a lump in my throat. Congrats to the happy couple."
A third added: "How beautiful. Got tears now. Congratulations to both of you."
