Geri Horner’s tears for tragic friend George Michael on This Morning

GERI Horner became visibly upset when speaking about her close friend George Michael, who passed away on Christmas Day.

The Spice Girl was on This Morning to promote her new documentary about nineties music, but the topic of conversation quickly turned to her Wham! singer friend.

Speaking to Philip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, she fought back tears as she opened up about the huge influence he had on her life.

Holly said: "The beginning of the year was tinged with sadness when you lost your very very good friend."

Geri smiled: "I talk about him in the documentary, I'm going to cry thinking about it."

As the tears came - which she partially blamed on "being hormonal", she explained: "I absolutely loved him.

"When I left the Spice Girls he took me under his wing and he was such a lovely person."

Describing his sudden passing as "shocking", she added: "Then I have a baby... it's just the circle of life.

"What I like about real friends is that they tell you like it is. He was very mentoring. I would play him my music and he would tell me if it was good or if it was rubbish."

Then to the presenting duo's delight, she revealed that George was a big fan of This Morning.

She smiled: "He loved this programme. He was just normal, and so generous."

Geri then explained that she lived with him when she gave birth to Bluebell and he previously bought her a car - and her baby son has paid his own tribute to him.

She said: "Monty's middle name George. It was my mother's idea as she was very close to George, and he was all about family.

"At first I thought is that appropriate, but we went with it."

Geri looked incredible in a brightly patterned skirt and a black top, with her auburn locks in cascading waves around her face.

She put her petite figure down to breastfeeding her six month old son, and also revealed that she was very grateful to have had another baby in her forties.

Phil said: "Your life stuff is fantastic at the moment, brilliant married life. Great life. You're in a good place."

She replied: "I feel incredibly grateful and I'm in my 40s mow and some people may know, my personal life, getting here was not straight forward.

"I had some dodgy boyfriends, it wasn't quite working in that department.

"Then suddenly life has blessed me with a lovely husband, I had a beautiful daughter already, but then to have another baby. I am so grateful.

"I don't know if when you're older you're more in the moment and appreciate it more. He's just adorable."

Geri also gave more info about her new documentary, saying: "I watched it and I thought maybe the outside has changed, a few more wrinkles and a different accent, but it's still the same old blah blah blah, you don't really change.

"Sometimes you have to look back to go forwards."

It was revealed earlier this week that George had died from natural causes although mystery still surrounds his death as the toxicology report will not be released.
