Good Morning Britain’s Piers Morgan supports Louis Tomlinson after 1D star’s dramatic airport brawl
TV star thinks the singer was treated in an 'appalling' manner while in Los Angeles Airport over the weekend
PIERS Morgan has sided with One Direction star Louis Tomlinson after he was arrested at an airport following a brawl with fans and a photographer.
The 25-year-old star wrestled with a member of the paparazzi at Los Angeles Airport over the weekend as he passed through the terminal with his girlfriend Eleanor Calder.
Louis then got into a heated exchange with a number of fans who were filming the incident, and a 22-year-old woman claims he threw her on the floor and “socked” her in the face, offences that could see Louis locked up for six months.
But on Monday's Good Morning Britain, Piers planted his flag firmly in Louis' camp, saying: "I'm with Louis, I've watched the footage and I think he was treated appallingly.
"He was just defending his girlfriend".
He added: "I feel sorry for him, he was just getting bothered at the airport by fans, get over yourselves."
The One Direction star was put under citizen's arrest according to the Los Angeles Sheriff's department.

He was charged with simple battery and a misdemeanour.
Bail was set at £16,000 but Louis was released without payment on a personal recognizance bond - whereby he promised in writing to appear at all future court hearings.
Speaking later in the show, Piers pointed out it didn't look like the singer had had any security with him, which he feels was an oversight on someone's part.
Mel C, who was a guest on the show, agreed, saying: "I thought the same thing, he needs some protection, he shouldn’t have been left in that situation."
Piers added: "He’s a nice guy, he’s lost his mum in tragic circumstances, just a few months ago.
"He’s obviously, I imagine, feeling very raw, feeling very protective of his girlfriend, and these awful fans - if that’s what they want to call themselves - they were just behaving reprehensibly, that can’t happen.
"I’ve got a lot of sympathy for Louis, you can’t be terrorising people in that way."
