The entertainer, who died at the age of 89, was famous for his roles on The Generation Game, The Price is Right and Strictly Come Dancing to name just a few.

The veteran entertainer had returned home from hospital on Friday afternoon, flanked by medics, after spending five days in intensive care due to a severe chest infection.

In recent years his Strictly catchphrases have become part of our everyday lives - or least Saturday nights around Christmas time - with "Nice to see you, to see you...nice", "You're my favourite", and "Keep Dancin'" among some of the most popular.

"Nice to see you, to see you..." - Back in the 1970s and 1980s Bruce would open The Generation Game programme each time with the saying which the audience would finish off with "nice!"

The TV legend brought this back into popular use during his years on Strictly Come Dancing between 2004 and 2014.

"Didn't he/she/they do well?" - Again this began during his stint on The Generation Game, but Bruce would often use it on Strictly after couples performed their dance routines.

His positive spirit often boosted dancers' morale after being given an upsetting score by the judges.

Later on The Price is Right he would say "Oh, wasn't that a shame" when contestants lost out on prizes.

"You're my favourites" - Proved a popular and humorous catchphrase - because the 89-year-old star would say it to everyone.

"Keep Dancin'" - Although originally introduced by Bruce and co-presenter Tess Daly years ago, Strictly has retained the phrase following his retirement in 2014 and it has now become synonymous with the programme. It's still used now by Tess and her new partner, Claudia Winkleman.
