There is still plenty of steam left in Sir Rod Stewart’s Hot Legs, trust me.
The music legend was struck by Covid and forced to cancel three shows in the US.
And poor Rod’s panicked fans feared the worst when he joked to Bizarre reporter Jack Hardwick that his “days are numbered” in an exclusive chat last month.
But now the Maggie May singer has bounced back – and told me he’s feeling better than ever.
“I appear to have been grossly misunderstood in that interview,” Rod tells me.
“When I said, ‘My days are numbered’, it was purely in jest. Aren’t everybody’s days numbered?

“I am in embarrassingly wonderful health and enjoying life to the full. I am not dying, as far as I know.”

Rod adds: “In actual fact I am in serious training in an attempt to run 100 metres in 18 seconds, which I believe is the world record for a 79 year old. I train three or four times a week on my football field and in my gym and swimming pool. I have had the same trainer for 37 years.
“I have completed over 70 shows this year all over the world and there are more to do.
“It was extremely unfortunate that I had to cancel my 200th show in Las Vegas and reschedule two others in Lake Tahoe and Lincoln, California, while I recovered from this summer’s strain of Covid.

“Fortunately we were already able to replay the shows in California this past weekend and I’ll be back in Las Vegas next year.”
Rod is next due back on stage on September 7 and has been having some rest and recuperation at home with his wife Penny Lancaster.
He says: “I have a beautiful wife, eight children and three grandchildren.”
And he joked: “Life is good and I have a lot of life to live, but I could still get knocked down by a No9 bus in the Charing Cross Road next week.
“All our days are numbered, but we just don’t know when.”
I bough to brave Twigs
After dating Kanye West for a while, I’m not surprised actress Julia Fox has developed a somewhat wacky sense of style.
But she was given a run for her money by FKA Twigs on a night out in New York.
The pair were spotted heading out for dinner in Manhattan’s East Village neighbourhood, with Twigs, right, looking like she’d scalped herself and stuck her hair on her handbag.
She wore a trendy pair of knee-high, tan boots with a corset top and a pair of tiny sheer shorts, while Julia, top, went all Sister Act by wearing a hood which looked a lot like a nun’s habit.
Don’t get me wrong, Twigs looks as cool as hell, but imagine the stares you’d get if you wore this down the town on Saturday night?
It’s fashion, but not for the faint-hearted.
The Oasis reunion may be stalling but a replacement is out there.
Nineties TV legend Mr Blobby belted out their mega hit Wonderwall at Gloworm Festival near Nottingham.
He took to the stage at the children’s festival and picked up a pink guitar to match his colouring before blobbing his way through the track.
No word from Noel or Liam yet but TikTok is won over. A clip of the performance last night had more than 2.1 million views and fans want his version on Spotify. Blobby was No1 in 1993 with a self-titled song, he may do it again.
Ed fond of dip in his pond
Ed Sheeran’s nimby neighbours will be spitting feathers after they see this latest Instagram video.
They have been moaning for yonks that Ed was using the wildlife pond he built in the back garden of his posh Suffolk estate as a swimming pool.
In 2019, as The Sun reported they even had a team from the local council go down to Ed’s place to inspect it. But they later reported that there was “no evidence that it is not a wildlife pond”.
Now Ed has revealed that he does go for a quick dip in the pond – after filming a “day in the life” video which has these shots of him taking a running jump into the water.
Just because Ed does cool off in the pond every once in a while doesn’t make it a swimming pool.
But I’d put a tenner on it that his neighbours will be straight on the phone to the council.
Kim Wilde has revealed her upcoming album Closer, the sequel to 1988’s Close, was inspired by watching her fellow female music stars be so successful.
She told Retropop magazine: “It makes you want to join the gang and say, ‘Hang on, there’s all these great artists out there making contemporary music, I want to be one of them!’
“You know, if Taylor Swift’s making a great pop record, I want to make one. If Dua Lipa is making a great pop record, I want to make one.
“So that’s what we’ve done.”
Putting crust in Simon
I regularly treat myself to a large Pepperoni Passion.
Now Simon Cowell has outed himself as a Domino’s pizza lover.
The Britain’s Got Talent boss has signed a big-money deal to star in a new ad campaign for the brand, which sees Simon pretending to be in his judging chair as he tries out some of the cooking team’s new creations.
Simon’s young son Eric will no doubt be punching the air about his dad’s new dinner deal. Free pizza for dinner every night? It’s the dream.
Op leaves Bruce in a Jam
The Jam’s Bruce Foxton is recovering well after he had to go to hospital for emergency surgery.
The bassist had been on tour with his tribute group, From the Jam, but has now stepped back while he recovers.
Bruce said: “I have had to go into hospital for an immediate procedure.
“It is with much regret and sadness that I will not be able to perform again with From the Jam until I have made a full recovery.
“The band has done everything to help me for the past couple of years and have even suggested several times that I take time off to look after my health and recuperate.
“That time has now come so I wish the band, my dear friends, continued success.”
We’re wishing you a speedy recovery, Bruce.
Paul Mescal has his hooter to thank, rather than his acting chops, for landing the lead role in Gladiator II.
Casting director Kate Rhodes James said: “I had a link to one of his films and there was a moment when he turned to the side and it was the most perfect Roman nose. I took a quick screenshot of it and I remember sending it to [director] Ridley Scott.”
Katy vid award
Katy Perry has plenty of reasons to smile.
She headed to a radio station in New York after it was revealed she will receive the prestigious MTV VMA Video Vanguard award next month.
The Lifetimes singer is also rehearsing to headline Brazil’s Rock in Rio festival and release her album 143, so she certainly isn’t taking it easy.
Scott to get me a coffee
Scott Mills had a mare on TV’s Celebrity Race Across the World – he feared a mosquito had given him dengue fever while travelling across South America with his husband Sam Vaughan.
But it turns out the Radio 2 DJ was just missing his coffee fix.
Scott said yesterday: “There was an outbreak of dengue fever, which is similar to Covid symptoms, headaches, feeling a bit sniffly.

“I’m like, ‘I’ve been bitten by a mosquito. I must have dengue’. I’m always worst-case scenario. But it turns out it was just caffeine withdrawal.”
My money was on Scott and Sam to win the 7,700-mile race from Brazil to Chile, but not now. Someone get him a Costa, quick.
