SAM Reid is acquiring a whole new legion of fans thanks to his role in Prime Suspect 1973.
The prequel to the popular 90s crime drama which starred Dame Helen Mirren kicked off on March 2 on ITV and runs for six episodes.

Who is Sam Reid and what doe we know about his early life?
Despite often putting on a posh British accent for his roles, Sam was born in New South Wales, Australia.
The 29-year-old was raised on a cattle farm alongside his older brother Rupert, who's also an actor, starring in two of the Matrix films.
Sam has mentioned in interviews that his mother's family are Irish.
How did Sam's career kick off?
After living in New York for a short time, Sam came to London to study the art of acting.
Enrolling at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA), the talented individual was names star student when he graduated in 2010.
Before he left the establishment he'd already bagged his first role in Roland Emmerich's Anonymous, playing the Earl of Essex alongside names such as Vanessa Redgrave and Derek Jacobi.
