I’VE always had a soft spot for Katie Price because of the remarkable love and devotion she’s shown her severely disabled son Harvey, in stark contrast to the boy’s father, former Manchester United star Dwight Yorke, who has had little to do with him.

But her ongoing spiral into shameful self-destruction is pathetic to watch and having seen so many people from all rungs of the celebrity ladder go down a similar path, I fear it will inevitably end very badly.

Get a grip, Pricey, before it’s too late and you leave poor Harvey without either parent in his life.

Trump's to lose

SEVEN days after he was nearly assassinated, I told Donald Trump I was certain he’d now win the US election given his astounding guts under fire and the zombie-like state of his opponent Joe Biden.

But Trump was oddly cautious.

‘I hope you’re right, Piers,’ he replied.

‘But as recent events have shown, four months is a very long time in politics, and anything can
happen.’

The next day, President Biden quit the race, and since then his vice-president Kamala Harris has re-energised the Democrats, narrowed the polls, and given Trump a lot more to think about than Sleepy Joe.

I still think the election is Trump’s to lose, as voters find out more about the very left-wing, very woke Ms Harris and her equally
progressive new running mate Tim Walz, but it’s far less of a certainty than it was.

Blake Lively flick was incredible

UNTIL now, the extraordinary Colleen Hoover phenomenon has passed me by despite her selling 20 million books.

So, it was with great reluctance that I allowed my wife and daughter to drag me along to see the film adaptation of the American author’s biggest best-seller, It Ends With Us.

“I don’t do cheesy chick flicks,” I moaned.

But I was so wrong.

It was one of the best movies I’ve seen in years, keeping my attention so intently that unprecedentedly, I never once looked at my phone in over two hours, not even to check for Arsenal transfer news.

Starring the beguiling Blake Lively, it’s essentially about domestic violence (Hoover’s mother was physically abused by her father), though it’s also about love, parenthood, friendship, and the often irredeemably devastating effects of trauma.

I won’t spoil the deft, dramatic denouement that reduced many sitting around me to floods of tears.

However, what I will say is that it astutely reinforces two of life’s most reliable truisms: Leopards really don’t change their spots, and always trust your gut instinct.
