Who is Navin Chowdhry?

Navin Chowdhry, 46, is a British television actor.

He was born and raised in Bristol and in 1994 graduated from Imperial College, London with a degree in biochemistry.

When he was just 16, Navin made his acting debut in the 1988 film Madame Sousatzka.

Who is Navin Chowdhry playing in The Replacement?

Navin plays Kieran in the tense new BBC thriller The Replacement.

The show is set in Glasgow and is about a woman named Ellen (played by Morven Christie) who goes on maternity leave from her job at an architecture firm and a woman named Paula (played by Vicky McClure) is hired to cover Ellen while she gives birth and takes maternity leave.

Kieran has been loyal to Paula through a very difficult period.

He’s the only one who knows the pain she’s hiding and has been sworn to secrecy.

He’s tried to get outside help but Paula won’t allow it.

With no-one to confide in, his marriage is on a knife edge.

What is The Replacement about and when does it start?

The BBC One psychological thriller follows the paranoia of a woman who sees her identity being dismantled and can’t work out whether the cause is another woman or her own baby.

When Ellen (Morven Christie), becomes pregnant, she finds maternity cover in Paula (Vicky McClure) – who is brilliant, enthusiastic and raring to go.

Ellen wants to champion her, but something’s not right and Ellen soon begins to fear for her safety when she begins to suspect that her replacement has a disturbing agenda.

The Replacement examines the darker side of working women, motherhood and the issues that arise from making “the right choice” and has been touted as a cross between Doctor Foster meets Single White Female.

What else has Navin Chowdhry appeared in?

Navin is known for his role as IT teacher Kurt McKenna in comedy show Teachers and Ralph in Channel 4’s Ny-Lon, as well as for playing PC Sanjay Singh in Dalziel and Pascoe.

He also featured in popular 2003 series Waking The Dead, where he played Rainman.

More recently, Navin played Anwar in Doctor Foster.

Other shows he has featured in include Judge John Deed, A Touch of Cloth, New Tricks and Doctor Who.
