DAVID Tennant was left squirming on This Morning when Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby tried to make him reveal who the next Doctor Who will be – namely if it’s his Broadchurch co-star Olivia Colman.
The 45-year-old actor had already had a tough interview with the pair as he had to conceal what is happening in the top-secret upcoming series of Broadchurch, however he stumbled into even riskier territory when the matter of Doctor Who arose.
Explaining why this is the third and final series of crime drama Broadchurch, David said: “Chris Chibnall, our writer and showrunner is off to run Doctor Who, which is some programme they make it Cardiff. So he’s going to be busy.”
David played the Doctor from 2005-2010, which made Holly wonder whether he could be invited back to replace Peter Capaldi.
“I don’t think it works that way, I don’t think you get a second chance,” he said.
This led Phil to ask: “What would your dream doctor be?”
“I am not even whispering, can you imagine,” laughed David. “I’m saying nothing!”
Phillip teased: “A lady doctor?”
To which David said, “Anything is possible”, as Holly added: “Olivia Coleman’s been put in the mix.”
As soon as Olivia’s name was mention the actor clearly began to squirm, and avoided eye contact as he simply said: “She has….”
Laughing at how uncomfortable David was becoming, Phil said, “You told us more about Broadchurch than you did Doctor Who!”
Feeling helpless, David Declared: “You breathe half a sentence and there’s a headline!”
You’re not wrong there, Dave.
