Danny Dyer ‘could be off EastEnders until the SUMMER’ after bosses forced him to take a break following boozy meltdown
The troubled actor has jetted off to South Africa for a break to get over his recent issues
TROUBLED Danny Dyer could be absent from EastEnders until the summer.
The actor – who plays Mick Carter in the BBC soap – was forced to take a break in order to ‘sort his life out and will reportedly make a return to the show before the within months despite being left exhausted over his hard boozing lifestyle and exhausting work schedule.
claims a BBC insider told them: “He is on a short break. He will be back long before the summer.”
The actor’s current contract runs until October, meaning he could just have a handful of months left if he chooses to leave the soap as he has hinted he will do.
A BBC source told The Sun Online that the break will be for a matter of weeks, not months.
He and Steve McFadden, who plays Phil, have been engaging in a behind-the-scenes feud that has divided the cast.
The Sun can also reveal that Dyer has had a go at Ross Kemp, who plays Phil’s sibling Grant.
Sources on the BBC soap claim Dyer, 39, told pals he once wanted to punch McFadden, 57, on set.
A show insider spoke of a “huge amount of tension” between Danny, who plays Queen Vic landlord Mick Carter, and Steve.
They added: “EastEnders might be trying to paint a picture of harmony but it couldn’t be further from the truth.
“It’s Steve who has more support. A lot of people find Danny a nightmare to work with.”
Party animal Dyer has stopped filming following an ultimatum from bosses to sort his life out.
He had a run in with Ross Kemp after his meltdown at the recent National Television Awards.
A source said: “Danny and Ross were both trying to find their cars and he started taking the p*ss.
“Ross wasn’t angry, just bemused.”
Yesterday we published snaps of Dyer having to be calmed by co-stars before he left the awards.
The “exhausted” star is believed to be recuperating in South Africa.
The BBC insisted: “Danny is respected by everyone on the show.”
