Top Gear’s famous Reasonably Priced Car has sold at auction for £6,000 … despite not being roadworthy
THE “reasonably-priced car” driven by stars on Top Gear has sold for £6,000.
The red Vauxhall Astra hatchback was the last of the cars to feature during the Jeremy Clarkson era of the BBC show.
Will Smith, Tom Hiddleston, Benedict Cumberbatch and Olly Murs were among 22 celebs who drove it round a track to see who could clock the fastest lap.
The car, which has done 3,000 miles, was returned to Vauxhall — which sold it for charity through London auctioneers Coys.
The money from the sale will go to BEN, the charity which helps people in the automotive industry who have fallen on hard times.
It is fitted with a roll cage and racing seats and is not road legal.
It was driven by more than 20 high profile stars and the fastest celeb to take it around the track was Olly Murs, who completed a lap in 1 minute 44.6.
