IT’S been 16 years since her provocative smash hit I Kissed A Girl launched her into the realm of pop super stardom.
And now Katy Perry has gone back to her roots for her new single Woman’s World.
The track, which sees Katy boldly declare “it’s a woman’s world and you’re lucky to be living in it” sees the Californian Gurl heap praise on embattled women everywhere - and ramp up the sex appeal in her raciest music video to date.
On the song, Katy sings: “She’s a winner, champion. Superhuman, number one. She’s a sister, she’s a mother. She was born to shine.”
The track is an infectious pop smash and I’ll admit, it’s been stuck in my head ever since I first listened to it.
In the video, Katy transforms herself into everything from an inflatable doll to a bikini clad scaffolder - giving hope to builders across the country that one day a woman as sexy as Katy might walk onto site.

One scene sees Katy joined by seven scantily clad dancers and brandishing a sex toy as she recreates the iconic image “Lunch atop a Skyscraper” from the building of the Rockefeller Center in New York back in 1932.
Another shows Katy wearing a white bikini and robot-like trousers as she sticks a petrol pump into her backside as if giving herself more fuel.
I kid you not.
In a swipe at those who say she’s past her prime, Katy ends the clip by screaming “I’m Katy Perry” to passers by who ask who she is as she jets off hanging from a helicopter… naturally.

A source said: “Katy is looking and sounding the best she has in ages.
“The video goes all out to shock and remind people why she has so many hits under her belt and was at the top of her game for so long.
“It’s safe to say it’s deliberately suggestive and sexualsed but the point Katy is making is that women can do anything men say they can’t.
“She’s not holding back either - from scenes pretending to use urinals to brandishing a sex toy it’s sure to raise eyebrows.”
Over the course of her career, Katy notched up a staggering 115 billion streams alongside worldwide sales of over 70 million albums and 143 million tracks.
She also landed her first ever Las Vegas residency, performing 80 near sold out shows at Resorts World with the likes of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and Celine Dion being spotted in the crowd over the run.
And who could forget that incredible Super Bowl halftime performance in 2015 - which saw 118.5 people watching from around the globe.
It has been four long years since Katy’s last album Smile - and it’s lead single Daisies - but I think her next body of work is going to have a far bigger impact than this record ever did.
Katy, it’s good to have you back.
