FLYING SOLO

Danny Dyer leaves the UK and flies to South Africa alone after being forced to take a break from EastEnders after ‘violent mood swings’

DANNY Dyer has left the UK after being forced to take a break from EastEnders.

The Sun revealed how the actor’s “mood swings” lead to BBC bosses asking Danny to take some time away earlier this week.

Now the cockney star has been spotted boarding a plane to South Africa from London’s Heathrow.

An eyewitness told : “Danny was travelling by himself on an evening flight.

“He had a porter dealing with his luggage, but other than that he was flying solo.

“He kept his head down and was checking his phone.

“He was flying first class and sat in the lounge on his iPad drinking a couple of beers.”

The onlooker also revealed a flight attendant kept Danny topped up during the long journey.

The Sun exclusively revealed on Thursday that the actor had suddenly quit the BBC One soap to “sort his life out” after show bosses reportedly became concerned after his drunken behaviour at the National Television Awards last month.

The mouthy star went on a series of benders after trying to kick the booze last month.

Now it's also been revealed that the star's mood swings were also causing problems on set.

One insider told The Sun on Sunday: “Danny’s behaviour on set has been out of control for months.

“He could be nice one minute and the next he’d be ranting and raving, babbling about how s**t things are, and storming off.

“People would be waiting to do a shot and he’d just walk off, going: ‘This f***ing job is s**t.’ This would be ‘s**t’, that would be ‘s***t.’

“When he wasn’t complaining, he would walk around the set like Lord of the Manor, bragging about how EastEnders would collapse if he left.”

Danny, who is paid £400,000 a year, is contracted to stay with the soap until November.

Danny’s departure has left fans spitting with fury, with viewers taking to social media in droves to say they will not watch the show unless he returns.

Beeb chiefs also claimed Danny was not partying hard at the National Television Awards, despite him appearing visibly drunk.

Danny’s departure is a major concern for producers as his character is central to many key storylines.

Earlier in the week former EastEnders star John Partridge revealed the actor was under  “enormous pressure” on the soap.

He said: “I’m sure he’s under enormous pressure but I’m sure he has a great response from people in the street.  I’m sure everybody loves Danny.

“But it is relentless and I should imagine if he has got any problems or anything like that, to try and deal with life outside of that when you’re there 12, 13, 14 hours a day sometimes, that can be difficult.

“I know for me to manage my mum’s illness and work at EastEnders it was difficult to maintain all of that, so those were my reasons for leaving the show.”

SOUL OF THE SQUARE

By DAN WOOTTON, Associate Editor

IF hapless EastEnders bosses lose Danny Dyer they might as well close the Queen Vic for good.

Finally, they have found an actor to fill the void left by the show’s biggest superstar, Babs Windsor.

In less than four years he has become the heart and soul of Albert Square – and viewers overwhelmingly adore him.

But it didn’t take a rocket scientist to work out the chain- smoking, hard-boozing love rat, who once boasted he would always take drugs, was going to cause some serious trouble along the way.

If they didn’t want to deal with that trouble then why on earth did they hire him?

Danny’s been the best thing to happen to the struggling soap in years.

It’s losing the ratings and creative battle to Corrie and Emmerdale.

They should butt out of his private life and let him come back as soon as possible.
