Who is Cel Spellman? Host of The Voice spin off, The V Room and Radio 1 DJ – all you need to know

THE Voice is entering the final stages after its switch from BBC to ITV.

As well as introducing UK viewers to new judges Jennifer Hudson and Gavin Rossdale, the move has also spawned a spin-off to the talent show – The V Room, hosted by Cel Spellman.

But who is Cel? Here is all you need to know about the actor, TV presenter and DJ:

Who is Cel Spellman and how old is he?

Ceallach, or “Cel” Spellman was was born on 31 August 1995.

He is a Catholic of Irish descent, and attended St Bede’s College, a prestigious independent Catholic school in Manchester.

His acting career began as a child with a recurring role as Tom Lewis in the ITV cop drama Blue Murder in 2003.

Cel went on to star in BBC Two mockumentary The Cup, and appeared in two series of the BBC One school drama Waterloo Road.

When the much-loved comedy drama Cold Feet returned to our screens in 2016, Cel was cast as Matthew, the son of James Nesbitt’s character Adam.

As a presenter he appeared on BAFTA-award winning CBBC show Friday Download for the first eight seasons, and has hosted the CBBC Official Chart Show since 2015.

That was also the year he began hosting his on Sunday afternoon show on BBC Radio 1.

The 21-year-old appeared in , which described has having “the gift of the gab while also bringing a certain air of a young Mr Johnny Depp to proceedings”.

What is the V Room?

The V Room is an online-only spin-off bringing The Voice fans all the latest news and gossip from backstage.

As well as featuring on the ITV Hub, the show brings all the latest interviews and backstage banter across the channel’s Facebook and Twitter accounts, and The Voice App.

Cel will also front The V Room for The Voice Kids, a children’s version of the format which is set to air later in the year, after the current series of The Voice ends.

The main show is presented by Emma Willis, who also takes the helm of Celebrity Big Brother and is set to host the 2017 BRIT Awards.
