Schoolgirl will end up in a sex ring in new storyline
SCHOOLGIRL Bethany Platt lost her virginity to evil groomer Nathan Curtis in tonight's Coronation Street, kickstarting the soap's hard-hitting sex ring storyline.
Viewers watched in horror as the blonde teen woke up naked in the much older man's bed after his accomplice Mel got her drunk at a nightclub.
As the lay dozing in the bed, he crept out to call a friend, telling them that she was "something special" and he was going to get a return on his "investment".
Waking up and noticing the bed was empty, startled Bethany called out for her 'boyfriend', causing him to scuttle back beneath the sheets.
One viewer tweeted: "So Pervert Nathan plans to pass Bethany round his sick pals. Horrific #Corrie."
Others added: "Hold up....did Bethany have sex with that guy? #Corrie"; "IS BETHANY NAKED? #Corrie"; and "This storyline on #corrie is so disturbing."
Nathan's sick plan was put in to action earlier in the evening when Mel - fresh from helping an underage girl get drunk - snatched her phone and hid it without realising.
It meant that mum Sarah-Lou's message telling her to be home by midnight went unread - lining up plenty of drama for Monday's double episode.
Mel then called Nathan to collect her disorientated and woozy from outside the club - although she was almost saved from his clutches by
neighbours Rana, Alya and Kate.
However, Bethany insisted that she wanted Nathan to take her home - a decision she might regret.
At his flat they shared a kiss, but Nathan pulled away and went to bed alone.
Confused, Bethany followed him to bed and slept with him for the first time.
Things will only get worse for Bethany as she becomes the central part in Corrie's new sex ring storyline, a development writers have had “heated discussions” over.
The ITV soap is tackling one of the darkest stories in its history with Bethany being targeted by creepy Nathan Curtis, and the brave storyline has led to some rows in the writing room according to one of the show’s writers.
Calling the story an “important one to tell”, writer Jan McVerry has revealed that the show’s passionate writers have been in rows over how to get it right.
“My own children are teenagers but others with very young children have asked ‘should we be going into this darker territory?'” she told the .
“We have had many discussions on how to tell the story,” she added as the newspaper claims “heated discussions” have taken place over it.
