TV bosses want Kylie Minogue to be the new Cilla Black as Blind Date makes its comeback after 13 years off air
KYLIE MINOGUE has just split from her fiancé JOSHUA SASSE, so you’d think the last thing she’d want to do is play matchmaker.
But I can reveal savvy telly bosses have already devised a plan to turn her into the next CILLA BLACK.
They want her to host the new series of Blind Date when it makes its comeback after more than 13 years off air, as first revealed by The Sun.
Geordie Shore stalwart VICKY PATTISON was originally in the frame to front the show but producers have now gone back to the drawing board and are eager to have a go at hiring the Aussie singer.
A TV insider said: “Bosses have been taken aback by the amount of buzz around the series so are rethinking their original ideas.
“They know this is their chance to land an A-lister and Kylie has been discussed because she is so likeable.
“Blind Date has such a huge legacy and Channel 5 has had so much success with Celebrity Big Brother and Lip Sync Battle, it gives them a calling card to attract the best.”
I revealed Kylie had split from actor Joshua earlier this month after growing suspicious of his relationship with Spanish actress MARTA MILANS.
She later confirmed on Instagram that she had ended their year-long engagement.
The couple met on the set of his US show, Galavant, in 2015.
Kylie is one of my favourite pop stars and I think she would be perfect for the rebooted show.
The original format saw three singletons introduce themselves to Cilla before a member of the opposite sex, who can hear but not see them, asks questions and picks one to go on a date.
The new series will be tweaked to make it more up to date and it is thought to have cost around £1million for an initial six or eight episodes.
With Kylie in the driving seat, the only danger would be the singles being more interested in her than their dates.

Vogue's ready for a knees-up
VOGUE WILLIAMS isn’t letting a bad knee slow her down.
She went to Thursday’s Bright Young Things party at London club Annabel’s on crutches.

With Vogue looking this good, he’ll be faking injury to get home.
Sheerans get a lot of Edcercise
ED SHEERAN’s parents don’t live with him, but that doesn’t mean they have escaped the strict exercise regime he has been sticking to.
The singer is so concerned his mum and dad will die young that he has installed a swimming pool and a gym in their house to get them fit.
Ed, who celebrated turning 26 yesterday by dropping new ballad How Would You Feel (Paean), said: “I think any kid at my age starts getting worried about their parents’ health.
“I have bought them a cross-trainer and built them a swimming pool. They are now training and swimming every day. I want them to be able to hang out with their grandkids for a very long time.”
Ed’s dad John is 60 while his mum Imogen is 57, so they have plenty of years ahead of them.
But at least this will save him paying for babysitters when he’s on his seventh world tour.

Sia, Kim's up fur it!
THE KARDASHIAN-WESTS take orders from no one.
Just a day after KANYE was urged to go fur-free, his wife KIM got her finest out of the wardrobe for lunch in New York on Thursday.
The flamboyant display comes after pop star SIA tweeted the rapper, pleading for him to ditch fur.
It was in response to models wearing it during his Yeezy Season 5 show for New York Fashion Week.
Sia included a link to a video showing rabbits being slaughtered.
The last time Kanye was on Twitter was two weeks ago so perhaps he hasn’t got her memo yet.
Super Human Rags' rum do
RAG’N’BONE MAN’s career is booming – and he’s making sacrifices to keep it that way.
Yesterday he scored the fastest-selling male debut album of the decade with Human.
Now, just like ADELE, he has cut back on the booze to protect his voice.
The singer, real name Rory Graham, told me: “I used to have lots and lots of rum. Now I have hot lemon and ginger tea with a bit of rum in it – one before I go on. I used to have four or five.”
Rags, who got the nickname after his love for classic BBC sitcom Steptoe and Son, shifted 117,000 copies of his brilliant record, outselling this week’s entire Top Ten combined.
That gives him a bigger opening week than ED SHEERAN’s debut album + in 2011 and SAM SMITH’s 2014 first offering In The Lonely Hour.
His single Human is also at No2, ending Ed’s five-week reign in the top two slots.
Rags said: “It’s mad. I can’t comprehend it to be honest. I’m a little bit frightened.”
The Brighton-based singer’s career started in 2012 when his girlfriend Beth sent promoters clips of him singing.
He’s now won the 2017 Brits Critics’ Choice Award and is up against ANNE-MARIE, BLOSSOMS, SKEPTA and STORMZY for Best British Breakthrough Act at the Brits on Wednesday.
Rags said of his award: “It’s on my mantelpiece but my cat keeps chewing it, she’s taken some silver paint off.
"I’m going to take it to my mum’s next week to keep it safe.”
He might need to have a stern word with the cat if it goes well on Wednesday.
Solo Niall back in studio
WITH five years in ONE DIRECTION under his belt, NIALL HORAN knows a thing or two about making a hit.
And his experience has now been proven with his debut single This Town being certified platinum in the US with sales of more than a million.
Only a handful of 1D songs achieved the same success so it is an impressive start to his solo career.
Now Niall is back in the studio working on his album, which will be released later this year.
With new music also due from his bandmates HARRY STYLES, LIAM PAYNE, LOUIS TOMLINSON and ZAYN MALIK, who quit the group nine months before their hiatus, Niall will have no shortage of competition.
Caroline's Crazy new gig
CAROLINE FLACK has landed the lead role in a musical – just as I told you she would.
The talented Strictly 2014 star will play the feisty wife of series six champ and Casualty star TOM CHAMBERS, a banker who is set to close down a failing theatre, in touring musical Crazy For You.
I revealed how she was pursuing a career in the West End ever since she and co-host OLLY MURS were given their marching orders from The X Factor.
After reports last year that Caroline had been offered the lead role in London musical Bonnie & Clyde, it appears other productions quickly got in on the act.
I can’t wait to see her in action.
