Coronation Street fans express their surprise that Michelle and Steve McDonald have enjoyed ‘beach walks and rolling hills’ in the town of Kildare
Viewers were delighted to see the grieving couple back on the Cobbles - but they're not convinced by their holiday stories
CORONATION Street fans were left puzzled after Michelle and Steve McDonald claimed they had enjoyed "beach walks" and "rolling hills" while in Kildare... a town renowned for it's FLAT landscape.
The grieving couple returned to Weatherfield in tonight's show after taking some time away to deal with the loss of their son, Ruari.
Michelle - played by Kym Marsh - said: "Honestly they never stopped feeding us, this one loved it obviously."
Steve added: "Yes so from now on I will expect a full Irish breakfast every morning on a tray with a pot of very strong tea."
Michelle continued: "It was good just being able to take some time out. Walks on the beach and that."
"We've turned in to quite the ramblers," Steve nodded.
Michelle, inspired, said: "It was nice though. Calming I suppose. We could go for a little stroll in a bit if you like."
Steve gasped: "Around here?"
Michelle smiled: "I know its not exactly the rolling hills of County Kildare."
Although Liz was engrossed in their catch-up, people at home noticed something didn't quite add up.
One tweeted: "Someone in #corrie referred to "long walks on the beach" and the "rolling hills of Kildare". Kildare is renowned for its hills and beaches."
Another said: "Ha flat as a pancake I know I've drove most of it...and def no beaches #kildare #Corrie #coronationstreet there geography is way off."
One viewer fumed: "Who the f**k is writing corrie and why do they think there are beaches in Kildare, its landlocked."
